Default Newbie Introduction

Hi All,

Time to introduce myself, although I have been lurking on Rennlist for the past 18 months or so, gaining much knowledge and learning from the experience’s of all you guys and I have to say it’s been an excellent experience and source of information, many thanks to you all.

I had not posted before because I did not really have anything very constructive to contribute until after I started modifying my 1993 Turbo 3.6, which I have recently started to do.

I don’t have too much previous history on my car because I don’t know (as the garages here won’t give me the info) who the previous owners were, except the 1st owner (as it’s the only name in the Service Book) was in Melbourne (Southern Australia), I understand the car spent most of it’s time there, although it went up to Queensland (NE Australia) for about 18 months before I bought it in January 2005 and had it delivered to Perth (West Australia). The car was ordered from the factory in Fly Yellow (Ferrari Colour) and I was told that it was converted to a Turbo S lookalike by Porsche Melbourne before it was delivered to the 1st Owner, the engine was a standard 3.6 unit.

The modifications I am making are the external “bolt on” type only so as to try and maximise the performance from the CIS System and I also wanted to improve the handling of the car.

The car is used predominantly on the road but with some track day use, so I wanted more power/torque in the low/mid range, faster boost response and much better handling, so after extensive research and advice from several tuning companies I opted for and bought the following:

1. Power/Response - Full B&B Exhaust System Kit, Tial 0.8bar Wastegate, Evolution Motorsport BOV, High Flow Air Intake Kit and a Relocation Kit for the Boost Overpressure Switch. Car already has an old (mid-nineties era) AVO EBC fitted which I will probably end up removing and not replacing once I get everything tuned up perfectly on the Dyno. I may install a better Turbo later on.

2. Handling – Bilstein PSS-9 Kit and a Front Strut Brace.

3. Safety – HID Headlight Conversion Kit.

I’m looking forward to contributing and giving something back to the forum to help others, now that I have some relevant experience myself.

Cheers, Mike

I saved some pics of those ducts! I have one side but need a mate before I could install.

Thanks for sharing.

Mike,

Lovely 3.6T especially in Yellow...Those turbo s rear ducts really make the car unique. I don't think there where any Flachbau Turbo S or 3.6T with the X88 "S" engine ordered for Australia.

I was at Porsche Melbourne and one of the staff looked up the documentation on our cars for me. A total of 15 3.6T's where officially imported into Australia. 10 x 93 model year "P" VIN code, and 5 x 94 model year "R" VIN codes.

i.e. WPOZZZ96ZRSXXXXXX
Mine is one of the 5 "R" VIN coded cars.

I have compiled a list of 12 cars - which I have verified (seen in person or confirmed for sale) over the last few years -:

Midnight Blue - Melbourne (My car)
Guards Red - Melbourne
Guards Red - Melbourne
Black - Melbourne
Black - Melbourne
Midnight Blue - Melbourne
Yellow - Melbourne (was for sale a few years ago at Weltmeister).
Black - Sydney
Grey - Sydney
Teal Blue - Sydney
Moss Green - Sydney
Midnight Blue - Sydney

Not sure if the one for sale at Weltmeister had the Turbo S ducts - I don't think it did. If that's the case then there are 2 x Yellow 964 3.6T's - A Speed Yellow and Ferrari Fly Yellow.

Rgds,

ThunderC4S (John)

Looks nice.

But the fact that it has an airbag wheel but no knee bar is strange. I thought all ROW cars with airbags had a knee bar.

Also, do you know who made those rear ducts?
