After the previous thread on this car, and a fellow Rennlister setting Victory straight about it, they now admit that it is not a factory car:

"WE ARE TOLD THAT THIS 1991 CABRIOLET WAS ONLY ONE OF FOUR TURBO CABS THAT WERE MODIFIED USING ALL OEM FACTORY COMPONENTS IN CALIFORNIA"

Obviously the PO's certificate of authenticity from Porsche was a fake. Even dealers get it wrong sometimes...

The certificate of authenticity probably was original and correct for the original car that it was modified from ie. the correct sn. as stated it had a sun roof.

Looks like a decent conversion, who ever did it. It even has a windscreen. I always wonder why Porsche didn't produce a cov. turbo during 91-94, The RS America had a turbo look rear.

Here is the orginal eBay ad from the guy that Victory bought it from. It clearly states that it is a Turbo Cabriolet, so it is a fake:

that 3rd brakelight looks bad. I take it this is a legal requirement in the US, or just some very poor taste?

That particular third brake light position is from around '88-'89 and didn't last long fortunately.

They did make a turbo cab in '93 or '94 , might have been just in europe though.

The wheels look very interesting. Can someone educate me on what they are?

I believe they were made by Antera and were quite popular in the 80's and 90's. I know of one UK-based 965 with the same wheels - see his thread here with pictures of his wheels (which are Anteras):

No problem. Personally I think you can't beat the Speedlines.

Not sure what you would mean by "decent conversion"...?

Personally the car looks to be a Turbo Body Production car... an America Roadster, believe they were produced between 91-93. These cars like any other "Turbo look" factory car would have everything the Turbo car has except the engine.

If there is any conversion work to it then it would be the addition of a turbo system to the existing engine or the install of a turbo motor.
I'm not saying that someone couldn't have done a full body conversion etc on a 964 cab as well... it would just be easir to turbo and America Roadster.

Wonder why Victory would advertise this car as they did? They had enough special cars, and have enough experience with Porsche to know that this wasn't right!

Wheels look to be by Antera as Tjr said..

biglicks: That cyclops rear brake light was the hot lick in the late 80's early 90's for anything that had a whale tail. They were not cheap either!

Meant that if it is a turbo coupe converted to a turbo cab, then someone must have chopped off the roof, and by looks of it does'nt look too bad, ie.. convertable top looks like it fits properly and looks like it should when its down, nice and snug. Seems like i would be cheaper to get a tubo and chop the the top than a Roadster America and convert the engine, replace the wing, back hatch, etc...
