Make sure that you are pointing the car where you want it to go because that is where it will go - fast and violently. Be prepared for your passenger to grab on for dear life and spit out an "oh ****" or similar verbal response. As you rocket through second and into third gear think about how little time you had to hit your shift points - glance for an instant at your passenger and check the 'pale' factor - they should be getting pretty white faced by now. As you enter third gear feel the raw torque as in this car third gear may be the strongest. As the car rockets forward hitting full stride in third gear - check the speedo. If there is a smile on your face then you will know why everyone on this board swears by their car no matter its idiosyncrasies. If there is not a smile on your face then you did not properly follow the above instructions.
BTW you should be able to tell if you did it right by checking your watch. The entire process should have taken about 10 seconds.

Quite simply as all the other chaps have said they are the mutts nuts. Old school looks, old school feel and solid build quality. Exceptional performance and grin factor. I have owned mine for eight years and have just made the decision to sell her. I have driven many 911's but the 3.6 has only ever been bettered by one vehicle and that is the 993GT2. Same feel, same solidity, just lighter, faster and far more nimble. But a hell of a lot more money.

Hehe. I spy on the 993tt board. Your car is one of the very few I would get rid of my 965 for. And probably an F40. Very very nice car.

Well after 4 days with the new 997TT it is an amazing machine. It is quite a bit bigger than the 964T and currently the 964T is lower. However the 997TT has the 80-20 syndrome which my 964T doesn’t. That is to say when you’re doing 80 it is like your doing 20! It doesn’t have the raw brutality, sensory overload of the 964T on boost instead it seems to operate on a space time continuum
As long as I can swing it I plan to keep both, they are truly different machines but both incredibly fun to drive From the turning heads department the 964T definitely turns heads more.

I don't know the 993GT2 is a definite #1 on my list of all time great Porsche's. Problem here is the real ones aren't street legal and now we are talking a different game. This leaves the 94 as my next top choice.

I know someone who got around that by making his own down to the very last detail and then some out of a 993TT. Beautiful car done right in Midnight blue. Absolutely gorgeous. This car has just about everything a GT2 has but some of the minor light weight features. It would be a tough call.

On the other hand here is my friends F40. Gorgeous classic car but again too over the top for street use IMO. Don't think I could drive this on the street and feel comfortable. Besides I could have a 993GT2 a 94 turbo and several other cars for what these things cost.

That is one thing the turbo 3.6 has going for it. Classic lines great looks and can stand out or blend in. Is a rather streatable car that can keep with the bad boys and not require yoga lessons to get in and out of.

Is this second version of the picture any better? This was taken on a very overcast day with rain.

Aaargh Anthony, you really annoy me. Just kidding buddy but you have to either get a new camera or post pictures using www.flickr.com

You post all these GREAT photos that are so low res. You have good taste in the photos you post!

I've got to find the time to set up an account and play with it . But then I wouldn't have any time to post pictures. Some of these were resized before Rennlist allowed larger files. The Ferrari is sized to the newer 124meg file size the gt2 to the older smaller file so i will try to clean out older saved pictures. The Ferrari looks clear on my PC.

pS it was also a rainy day for the Gt2 so that had a lot to do with it. You can see the water smudges in the image.

Yeah, the F40 pic is not too bad Anthony. From what I remember they are not very nice inside at all.

Pengole, glad you got it.

Out of interest what is the stumbling block with the US and the 993GT2. Is it just ride height or were they other issues ?.
I sat in an F40 a few years back that belongs to a mate. Far to sparse in side and very much race car interior which does not make it a nice road car. Power delivery is very all or nothing. My mates wife won't go out in the car anymore as it makes her feel sick. As he says, take it out for a blast once a month for a couple of hours and put it away.
Prices for F40 and 993GT2 are not that far discimilar these days. But the GT2 as per the 964 3.6 turbo is a completely useable road car.

IMO the F40 looks crap inside. I didn't mean it was sparse. My 911's are fairly sparse for road cars and some people think my 911 is an in progress project due to the interior LOL. I just like the minimal, no speakers, radio or mats. My 930 has sparco's, no radio and no rear seat cushions. Neither cars have annoying central locking now either.
