Here's an interesting question; what if I were to buy a 3.6 and swap the motor with my 91. Being that mine is a rare color w/ black interior, would that make my car worthy of 3.6 money?

Would a similar comparison be if someone had put a 4-Cam engine in a 55 356 "A" coupe and then asked if it's worth 356 Carrera money? I would think it would be worth more to someone looking for a driver, however, not to a collector.

did get to see the car in person. it was nice. the front fenders felt as if someone rolled them, but they had the factory textured finish, some of the wheels were a bit rough and could use a refinishing. could not locate the "speedline" text on any of them. maybe it was removed via cleaning. over all it is a nice car. the sign said it was going to oklahoma.

Why not just by a 993TT motor and use that. I think the cost would be far less in many ways.

FWIW... I believe they were asking in the high 50's. I looked at it when they first got it in. It appears to be a very solid car. It actually looks better in person. It would probably make someone a great driver, DE car etc.

Anthony, I checked out this car, as you know. It did seem a nice example but as someone suggested, nothing compelling about it and I just dont really like white cars. I think $54,900 would have taken it for sure, at least if the low miles car the seller wanted was still available (Ray....;-)

Did his other car fall through? Still looking but the market has been a little thin unless they are ultra low mileage or ultra rare colors commanding premiums. Not too many sound medium mileage examples of late. I have been looking for a few lower mileage low 60's 964's and early Carrera's too but weeding out the crap and over priced has become harder to do.

The market reminds me of when I first started bring grey market cars over in the early 80's. In the beginning when interest was light there were numerous nice examples to choose from that sold at high but reasonable pricing for sound cars. All the reasonably priced cars have now sold off and all that is left are the occasional gems that the sellers hold out for a premium and or the used and abused that you don't want to waste your time with.

This white car was one of the few mid mileage cars i have heard of that was reasonably priced. Others in the same price range had hidden skeletons.

The few I recently looked at had either hidden accident damage or rolled back speedos amongst other issues. Even at an asking price of high $40's low $50's these cars were only worth buying for track use. There were many cars that sold 3-4 years back that had entire sides of the car replaced or similar issues. The workmanship was top notch but still being sold as original. People actually paid a premium too. If your going to pay a premium make sure your check everything out thoroughly.

Don't worry, you know all I have heard about regarding the car your buying. I think you should be very pleased.
