I was thinking about tackling it in the meantime. I will definitely take you up on it if I don't get around to it before then.
Have a good one.

As I mentioned on my car I did not have a CAT so there was much less to remove, at F you will see this vacumm line is feeding into the line that eventualy runs the headlight contol, you can just remove all lines around the soleniod and bin them, once you do this the remining lines plug into themselves to seal the system, you may have to remove a Y connector when you do this. When I did mine this was the only point I had an issue with sealing the system in. The system itself draws air in through the pump filter and dumps it into an open atmosphere down by the AC compressor. I dont think A is an issue as it is fed by the pump, I did not seem to recall D and E is the dump hole.
Once you start removing ll this junk you wil see it is relatively simple, ensure you do not leave open any vacumm lines as this change the mixture at some point and you should be fine. When I did take mine out I noticed the belt was in shreds, even though the OPC had charged me for a new belt a few month earlier....

So now that it is off. What to plug the muffler with (where part 6 in the diagram attaches to muffler)?
The threads are m22x1.5. Anyone found any suitable cap? Maryland metrics didn't have anything.
Thanks.

Yes the wheel nuts actually work. Although they are aluminum. You might try contacting Dansk. They use a SS cap on their cats that would work. They might sell it separately or tell them you lost yours. The nuts can also be used as a temporary cap for the injector ends if needed.
Regarding emissions. Not sure about CA but in NJ your car is almost always warm when tested. The air pump only works at startup cold temperatures. Its purpose was to dilute the mixture upon start up to reduce the amount of emissions the car gave off when cold. Once warm the air was vented out of the engine instead of mixing with the exhaust gases. In the 90's they used this pump to spool up the turbo to keep it on boost even at lower rpms for racing. Not very economical approach but effective.

someone told me that it is possible to remove that six-arm pipework (no 15 in pic 1) without destroying it or cut it into pieces.
after having a look at it while the car was liftet up i wonder how that should work (with original headers installed).
i think at least it is necessary to remove the pipe that connects both headers. can someone explain how you managed it ?

Ryan,
an old thread I know, was wondering if you even managed to get all of this stuff off? I'm in hte middle of removing this now (grub hands on the keyboard, not good) Have removed the injectors, pump all up to and including part one on your diagram. No trying to work my way across the other side (passenger, if you wheels on the right side!!). Where do lines C & B go? Can they be pulled off or do I have to blank them?
Many thanks
Steve

The only thing I had to put a cap on was at the throttlebody. Everything else connected to the system somehow and all came off without a hitch.
I have not gotten to the underside yet.
