Default A very rare 965 gathering (in my neck of the woods)

In Wellington (Capital City of New Zealand) i never see other 965's around on the roads.

Well a special day today, i dropped my 3.6 off to the workshop to get some service work done, and low and behold there was a Metalic Black 3.6t on the hoist (this car is ex dubai) apparantly. It only has 7,000km on the clock and is prestine! Owned by a Flyboy based in Hong Kong.

The technician told me that they were expecting another 965 (3.3t with Speedline lookalikes) in later in the day, so i went back later and the guys at the shop lined them all up for me to snap some pic's of this very rare sighting ;-)

Mines the middle one :-) Pic taken with my new phone (Nokia N95 - 5 MegaPixel camera)

Clint, did I send you the excel file with all of the known Turbo 3.6s in NZ? I ask, because my file is corrupted and I'm losing track. The Dubai car is the 3rd new one to turn up in the last few months. I think that makes 11 or 12 now in NZ.

John, i'm sorry mate, you have not sent me the excel register, i would be keen to have it tho ;-)

Ray and asimler, Yeah i was actually quite excited about it, these cars are just so rare out here, it was very cool indeed. Even the service manager mentioned that the other day they had a 993tt 996tt and a 997tt all in the shop at once, and he said that the 965 is the best looking turbo ever!

Talking

As you can see, Midnight Blue was a favourite, as was importing other countries' cars

BTW: Any one's VIN close to mine WPOZZZ96ZPS470223?

It's a pleasure to share with others who actually apreciate this trainspotting type info.

BTW: is there a reason so many older cars are being serviced at the OPC in Welly rather than Powerhaus?

One of Team's technicians is ex Powerhaus and is very well respected on the air cooled cars, he is also very passionate about the older cars - i really think that owners like that.

Up until about a month ago i have had all of my work done at Powerhaus. I lent my car to the dealer (teams) for the opening of their new Porsche showroom, (they bought a CGT in from Hong Kong just for the night) and they offered to do some minor work on the car as well as a groom for free as a thank you ;-)

Hi guys. When I was prepairing my 3.3T for sale at Powerhaus the Guards Red 3.6T was there. It was a lovely car with around 8000km on the clock IIRC. Showed some signs of aging. Rubbers cracking etc. Still a nice example tho. The owner said he just didn't drive it enough and had contemplated selling it.

I think it would be fair to say that Powerhaus get the majority of the older cars and caters more to enthusiasts than the OPC. I personally know Steve the service manager at the OPC and he is a great guy. I'm not too sure if you know Clint but Steve actually lives here in Otaki. There are pro's and cons with both places. When I own another Porsche I will go to Powerhaus. Better value for money and he looked after me when the OPC didn't want to know me (I was looking for my first 911 at around $30K). Bad business practice that is.

Clint, I must add that:
1. I can't stop looking at these pics, especially the first one (best pics I've ever seen from a cell, btw )
2. I love the euro bumpers
