Stock should be 225/40's and 255/35's right? Any pictures with this setup?

Fronts are 8's not 8.5's. I am running 235/40 and 295/30 no problems

Thanks for all the Info guys... The reason for my question was, I drive an 86 930 which sits pretty low. I ordered a set of RH 3.6L wheels in 18X8.5 and 18X10 I know I need to run 225-40's up front but been told to run 255-35's out back. The rear doesn't seem wide enough for me being my car is lowered will I have and rubbing issues with 265-35's?

I am pretty sure one can easily fit 18x11 with 315 on a 930 rear ....the limiting factor on a 964 Turbo is the rear control arms that are different in a 930...so ask this question on the 930 board and go with 18x11..

I love the 3.6 wheels on a 964, but they look awful on 930s - don't do it!

I won't say the speedline look would look bad on your car however, I agree your car is pretty close to perfect.

The fuchs are some of the best wheels used on a Porsche. Light weight single piece forged and rugged as hell not to mention classic look. You can clean up the centers and liven them up. IIRC polishing them will bring the black looking dark and glossy vs gray and dull. The 930's I believe ran a 7 & 9 x 16. IIRC they also made an 8 x 16. You can always swap the fronts and go with a 235/275 x 16.

If that isn't to your liking I believe someone (might be Lindsey racing) makes a 17" fuch look wheel in different widths. I would not go with more than a 17" wheel on a torsion bar car. I think you will be disappointed in the ride quality.

Bernard,

I know you asked questions about the 3.6 wheel, but I wanted to ad my two cents......

I'm one of the group that does NOT like the newer style wheel on the older cars. A set of 17 or 18 inch custom Fuch's (centers) would look great on your car. My personal favorite is a set of 9/10's RUF's. They are 17 inch wheels so if you have to go 18's then this won't work for you. I ran 235's and 275's on mine.

Thanks for all the comments guys... I've always loved the look of those wheels and I said one day if I ever buy a 930/964 that would be the only wheel I would switch too.

I'm not trashing the stock wheels, I can always reinstall them at anytime.

I would stay with the 16" fuchs. Much lighter than our 17" cups and 18" speedlines, stronger to. Unless you are going to 17's to fit big brakes, the big reds on my 3.6 still fit inside 17" wheels I would not do it. It will not drive nice. In truth even the 964 turbo's drive better on 17's than 18's. Yep the speedlines do look lovely buy they are a nightmare to keep clean and to prevent corrosion.
