James, send your original speedo off the NHS, and they can calibrate and silk screen numbers up to 200 MPH.... They do a wonderful job

Yes they do....

http://www.nhspeedometer.com/

phone #: 818-761-5136

They did a 200 MPH conversion on my stock speedo, and set it back to 0 miles.
I also had them do all of my guages in yellow background with red letters and numbers.. They replaced the glass and the bezels. The guages looked like brand new form the factory when i got them back...

Isn't resetting the speedo to zero a serious no-no?

I believe it becomes a felony when you go to sell the car under false pretenses. If you advertise the car as having only 4,300 miles, as the speedo now says for example, and the car really has 138,xxx miles.... then i would worry. If you buy a new speedo from say, Summitt racing, an Auto meter speedo... it comes set at 0 miles. If you purchase a new VDO speedo from a vendor..... it will also come with 0 miles. I have never heard of when you buy a new speedo, they ask you for the exact miles you have on your car now.... That is why they have the " caution, odometer discrepancy" on titles...at least they do in MI and in GA. You check the box when you go to sell your car, and put in the miles that is displayed. The new owner now knows that the milage is not correct.

NHS, basically made me a new speedo with some of the guts from my old speedo, so in fact selling me a new one... Hell, my racecar is a bunch of non-stock parts anyway, so I am not too concerned with the milage not being correct. If i ever did sell it, the new owner would know what had happened, and would know abotu the total milage on the car.

If your state does not allow that, then I am sorry. Where I live, it is perfectly legal.

Actually, the correct way that even most Porsche dealers follow is rolling the numbers on the new speedo to match what you had on your old speedo. Your invoice and speedo is marked for this reference. Why replace your speedo with "0" when a new gauge can get rolled to match the correct miles..
