Is there a way to look at the engine from the outside and tell if it is 3.3 or 3.6?

Just the engine type number stamped on the case. IIRC the 3.6 will be marked M64.50 and the 3.3 will be marked M30.69.

hi,

Twin plugs ?
both 3.3 and 3.6 have single plugs and distributor.

there is temp sensor, mounted on top of the left chain housing of all 3.3 engines. its a bit hidden behind the huge pressure host to the intercooler.
3.6 engines have that sensor mounted "backstage" near by the crankcase venting.

That car could be a 1993. If I am not mistaken, the Europe 3.6ltr was introduced in 1993 as a 1993 model and was not shipped to the USA until 1994.

I agree with Cobalt, it is very easy to change a speedo.

I think this car has too many stories. If it has had problems in the past, I bet the car was abused.

My car is a '93 ROW Turbo 3.6 and the VIN is wpozzz96zPS470223. As Fritz said, this is a ROW '92 3.3, the tell tale is the 'N' in the VIN. The Turbo 3.6 badge is cheap and easy to get so it proves nothing.

BTW Any '93 ROW Turbo 3.6 VINs out there close to mine?

Did anyone notice there's a picture with the rear protector in place, the one you would use to perform maintenance? Is that the dealer's way of foreshadowing??

Guys, I think I know this car. It's a 3.3 turbo and not a 3.6 at all. I knew the first owner of the car and he sold it in 1995, as far as I can remember, for the first 993 turbo that landed here. After that, I have no idea what happened to it and how it ended up in Austin, Tx.

Doesn't the 3.6 have 3 studs on the heads instead of just two like the 930 engine ?
