Pistonheads (UK) Meet Last Sunday
Last Sunday (12th Nov) 3 of us turbo Rennlisters plus another 965 joined the Pistonheads at Virginia Waters in Surreys.
Pretty impressive having 4 of us old-skool turbos together (3 x 965's and JBL's special 930) but the turno out of other supercars was awesome! Couldn't believe how many Fezzas, Lambos and other exotica were there.
Here are some links to the pics:
My 3.3 (Pearl black):

Hi Mark,
Great pictures. As a matter of interest are the wheels on Phil's car real 3.6 Speedlines or the one-piece copies?
I'm debating whether to go down the 18 inch route as I really like the look of the 3.6 Speedlines but I can't justify the cost of the real thing, so I'm contemplating the copies...
Cheers,
Tim.

Great pics Mark, thanks for posting. Was a great meet, especially to see the Murci fire up in our faces!
Tim - they are copy 3.6 wheels, not sure what make, and the only real visual difference is the bolts appear to countersunk. They looked superb in the metal. I'm thinking of getting some as am so fed up with my 3 pieces constantly de-lacquering and the bolts rusting!

Hi Anthony,
Thanks - I was hoping you'd say that as I've read a lot about Speedlines and although they are beautiful, like many Italian products, they seem to be very high maintenance...
The consensus seems to be to refurb. them and then put them in your garage for "occasional" use, and buy another cheap set. Is that what you are thinking with yours?
I've looked around and there are plenty of similar-looking rims, but the Veloce 3.6 rims (that both PWS and design911 sell at around £850-£1k) are designed to look like the Speedlines. These seem to be the best copy and as they are one piece are less likely to need a refurb quite so often.
Perhaps Mark can confirm if Phil's are these?
Cheers,
Tim.

Exactly, but if I do go that route I need more storage space first. Also would be tempted to get BBS/Cargraphis style wheels - look amazing IMO

Phil had genuine Speedlines first and sold them, he too was fed up with the care needed. He told me that these 'fakes' have the same problem with the nuts deteriorating!
Anthony, yes, the BBS/ Cargraphics look the biz. That said I'm content with my Cup1's although the 3.3 needs lowering to set them off better (next job when I have some spare cash).
PS: John, I agree, what a tall bunch, I felt short next to Anthony. Also when I met Miguel he's no midget, and lets not forget Brian with his RUF CTR Evo (964 Celebration). Must be something about tall guys and 911's!
