1992 Turbo S
I've been offered a 1992 Turbo S with 34xxx miles. The owner has opened the table for offers. Assuming the a PPI checks out and everything seems in good to excellent condition, what's a fair value for this car? I understand they are pretty rare. Also can you tell from the vin if it a true Turbo S? Anything in particular I should look or watch out for? Thanks in advance to all your input. I'm a 930 guy and this is my first "modern" turbo.

The 92 was a lightweight special similar to the 964 RS but with turbo power!
One was sold in the UK recently for over £60k, ie over $100k.Adrian Streathers 964 companion lists the huge number of differences from standard turbo.Good luck!

Is this one of the 80 euro 92 turbo S's? This was a light weight car that is not and cannot be made street legal in the US. It had carbon fiber hood doors lexan glass sport seats like used on the speedsters and many other features, engine produced 381 hp but the car was substantially lighter than a stock turbo. It also should have 3 piece Speedline for Porsche Cup1's and big reds. They are commanding well over $100k when they come up for sale but cannot be used on US streets. I am 90% sure that goes for PR also. If I am not mistaken you pay a premium of about 20% over what car values are here on the main land so figure the price to be high. If it is one of 20 92 trubo S2's there has been a lot of talk about these recently. If it is documented and shows the S2 option on the window sticker and has not been altered I would say it might be worth what a good 94 turbo is worth. Most of these have been modified and current pricing shows them to be worth what a stock 92 is worth.
Here are some pictures of what a euro 92 turbo S should look like.

ok a slight thread hijack, but looking at the pictures Cobalt posted I noticed the tools (lug wrench) in the pocket in the trunk. Does anybody know where all the tools are supposed to go ie. when new from factory?Pictures?

I agree that is not where they belong. One good emergency stop and someone is going to have a damaged carbon fiber hood.
The tool kit is stored under the front plastic shroud that is held down by the 2 plastic turn screws directly in front of the spare tire. The lug wrench I place behind the spare there is a place it locks into.
