930 vs. 964 Turbo
930 vs. 964 Turbo:
Ok guys, I am posting in both forums with this question. I want one for a daily dirver and approximately 400-500 crank hp. Which way should I go?
Some points that are important to me in no particular order:
1. Reliability
2. A/C
3. Ease of maintenance ( I am mechanically inclined )
4. Hp gains
5. Cost of parts
6. Fun factor driving and working on
7. Driving characteristics
8. Making it pull a "G"

Figure on a budget. Then buy the newest you can afford and still have the purchase price to dump into all the extras you want. All it takes is money.

Different cars. Do you like lightweight or comfort? Do you want a street car or a track car?
The 965 is nearly perfect but it is heavy. The 930 feels more like a race car. 965 for street, 930 for track.
965 has coilovers, big red brakes, bigger engine, elictronic ignition, best CIS ever, and creature comforts. Just replace turbo and exhaust.
930 is lighter and cheaper and has a direct feel of the road. After all the upgrades, the 930 may cost almost as much as a 965.

For a car that will be used mainly as a daily driver I recomend the 965. Get the 3.6 turbo from 94 if you can. I currently have both and the 965 is much easier to live with on a daily basis.

I second that , having just gone from an 89 930 to a 94 3.6.

The premium of a 3.6 over 3.3 in your country may differ
