I was looking for a "Old-Style" Porsche for awhile and I did have a look at the Oswego car at some point. I did not buy that one as I found a slightly better deal (or so it appears anyway) elsewhere. Did you end up buying the Oswego car?

Looks like you found a nice one.

I've had my car since January. I bought it out of Cleveland.

"It is my understanding that the 1.0 bar boost spring raises the bar (pun intended) and allows a higher maximum boost, without changing the boost when it first kicks in. Am I wrong?"

Very good point. Can anyone who has the 1bar spring confirm?

Surely, you only get the extra surge when the boost comes in, thereby making the difference between off and on boost all the more exaggerated...

My car went from standard to the level it's at now so I never tried just raising the boost, I would think the initial delivery of power would remain very similar but it would just give you more shove at WOT, from my limited understanding the wastegate opens prematurely whatever spring you have fitted and the best fix is an EBC, it's something I’d like on mine.
Apart from 100 cell cats are you going to do any engine mods with yours or are you happy with the power? If you went to the Thames valley PCGB meet you can't be far from me, maybe you should pop over one evening and I’ll take you for a little blast in the 930 to see if you like the extra power, it's an eye opener

Thanks.
to answer your question. Only performance mod is Sports Cat, now booked for end July. Am very happy at moment, except sound (nice at idle and low revs but unexciting at high revs).

PS: Have sent you a PM about meets.

Mark is your car a post 92, is that why you went for the freeflow cat rather than a bypass?

I've said this to you before Mark but I’ll say it again, if you want an aggressive sound on boost get the wastegate dump pipe, myself and a group of friends have just been over to Reading to the cinema and on the way back I blasted past them (naughty but nice) and when we got back everyone commented on the sound "that thing sounds awesome" was the consensus! And I’m running a standard silencer, think I’ll fit one of those Zork pipes

I've responded to your PM

Megatron,
Yes mine is a 92 (Jan 1993). Even 1992 cars have to have Cats I believe.

JBL,
I'm still interested in the Wastegate bypass, but want to appreciate the Cat upgrade first before consider more noise.

That is correct... When I got my 91 turbo, it had the stock spring in it and I put in a 1 bar spring. I raised max boost from .7 to 1.0 bar, resulting in a noticable power increase....

Welcome FCN. Beautiful vehicle. There are tons of mods you can do to make your vehicle quicker. The easiest would be an exhaust system/headers(ditch the cat), Turbo (K27HFS), and wastegate (tial with .8 bar spring) .

I know many guys here run 1 bar springs. I had trouble with overboosting running a 1 Bar spring. I switched to a digital boost controler set at .93 bar and a .8 bar spring in the wastegate (tial not OE).

If you are interested I will have my K27HFS turbo for sale soon. It has about 800 miles on it.

Also, I would look into a good suspension. I run a full H&R setup.

Congrats on the new toy.

If it helps the 91-92 964 turbos run close to .8 bar stock and the 94's are closer to .85 stock. Do a search on it I don't recall the actual numbers off hand. The gage only reads a maximum of .7 even though you may be producing more boost.

Headers are the best improvement to start. Full boost will be achieved much earlier reducing the lag time associated with these cars. I also rcommend reducing ride height to euro spec 94 turbo height. You can do this by changing out the shocks and springs. The factory suspnesion sucks and the car will be much more stable with this change.

If you are looking for more sound try the rear muffler bypass. There is a J pipe that is a simple bolt on. It doesn't gain any power but will drop 40 pounds off the back of the car. Next try the 1 bar spring and a good dyno tune. Proper tuning is essential. I highly recommend the K27 HF turbo. It gains power but is best noted for its making the car much more manageable to drive. It eliminates the on/off characteristics of the stock K27 and makes for a much more exciting and pleaseurable driving car. Especially when coupled with the 1 bar spring.

The WG exhaust pipe has a cat and the tail pipe uses a baffle that really quiets the sound. If you change the tips or remove the baffle it will double the sound when the WG opens. If you remove or gut the cat it will scream but can be very loud and can scare most drivers you scream by.

Cobalt,
If the bar is .8 instead of the quoted .7, does that mean that the HP is higher than the book says. Or is the 320bhp already based on the .8 boost?

BTW, where did you find this out?
