Default Can you lower the seats on a 965?

I have the factory leather turbo seats. The driver seat height is just about OK headroom (I'm 6'1") but there is no way I could wear a crash helmet for track day.

The seats are as low as they go via the electric adjustment. Is there another adjustment or (frame) kit to lower further?

Probably not without altering the frames. If you plan to do track events regularly, I suggest getting race seats or something comparable. I put in Recaro SPG (with harnesses) and at 6'4", I have plenty of headroom.

Default Seat height and helmets

Jeff is right. I'm also 6"1" and am fortunate to have 2 different 1992 Turbos, one a race car and one a street car that I've taken on track a couple of times.

I'm commenting on the street 965.

If you want/need to wear a helmet, then at 73" you've got to lean the stock seat back a bunch. Otherwise get a racing seat that allows belts and incidentally lowers the seat by a couple of inches. If you don't do that, your helmet scrapes the ceiling on each turn.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, pretty well what I expected.

I've seen a few 'hybrid' seats where they retain the reclining backs in a race style. eg. Cobra Mirano.

In the meantime, I will ask my garage whether they know of any way to lower the frame, and report back here if any luck.

How much clearance do you need ?....sometimes a 1/2" or so can be gained be removing seat foam in the base.
