Default Trade-Your opinion

Would you guys trade a 2000 Boxster S ( in perfect condition ) for a 91 3.3 911 turbo ( Porsche approved )?

Your opinion, as well as some of the higher 3.3 points would be appreciated.

Cheers

If you have a boxster to trade for a 964 turbo I would jump on it. I don't understand porsche approved on a 17 year old car. In my opinion even if you had to rebuild the motor down the road your 964 turbo would still be worth more then the boxster. Its always nice to have the feel of the turbo kicking in and the sexy lines and wide end of the 964. The boxster to me is a women's car. Eeverybody has there own porsche model year they love so do what makes you happy. Also did you drive the 964 and if so what did you think compared to the Boxster.

You need to drive one to see the difference. Your comparing two cars that are miles appart for a technological and development perspective. It really comes down to your personal taste.

BTW - If you can get a warranty on a 17 year old car, jump on it.

When I say Porsche approved I mean it has a Porsche warranty, bumper to bumper, and it has been checked by a dealership.

I own a 964 C4 and a Boxster S, and I don't even start to compare them...The 3.3 I don't know, apart from what I've read.

My only issue was, not being mechanically inclined, if I was getting into pure oldies territory.

Cheers

I would also jump on getting the 3.3T, assuming ongoing repair cost is not a major issue for you. The turbo would likely cost a bit more in the long run (more parts/complexity).

The turbo is much more exciting to drive, if that's what you're looking for, not to mention the style, heftiness of the build quality and additional room.

I have driven 2 different boxter S and liked them a lot, they however come far behind in term on pure driving thrill compared to the turbo... All depends on what you want.
The oldy still holds up pretty well, sure she may be leaks a bit here and there and is high maintenance if driven very hard but she is not falling apart, reliability is above all expectations despite a hard life.
Like you I don't do much myself so you really need a shop you trust for maintenance. It's key to a successfull/happy ownership experience.

I owned a Boxster S for 2.5 years and my current 964T for 1.5 years. The Boxster S would be a more cushy daily driver, but the 964T is far superior as a track/weekend car. Even for daily driving, I would pick a 964T, assuming you can handle some of then maintenance youself.

Pros for the 964T
Faster
More durable dry sump engine
More durable suspension components
Boost
Classic 911 look
Can be modded to produce insane levels of power
Will hold its value very well.
Better for DE/Racing

Pros for the Boxster S
Convertible
Better climate control
Better radio
Body parts are cheaper if you crash it
Better for Autcross

Hey 38D
You forgot to mention the main point.. NO RADIATOR!!
Thats the only point IMO. I just can't imagine driving into my pertrol station and asking "please check the oil and water"
It's just not right.
One day I asked a pimply faced teenager to check my water in my 965. Thats good for a few laughs.

Nonsense. My car will have radiators when I upgrade to that 962 engine
