What Head Studs?
I've got a broken head stud and will need to replace all of them in my engine rebuild.
What headstuds are recommended?
I was told to use the 993 turbo headstuds and that there are 2 types: fully threaded and threaded at the ends. The recommended one is the fully threaded.
Any advice?

Summit racing should have them in stock.
http://www.summitracing.com/ key word (arp porsche)
I had trouble with porsche guys having them in stock due to ARP.

just bought arp head studs($495) and conrod bolts from ebs racing and was very impressed with service/price etc(shipped to me in the uk within 4 days)...plus they certainly look the part, should have them fitted by the weekend!!..they are the same for the 930 as in my 3.3 964 turbo

RT....good question. The cost of parts and service for such a PM would be high. However if you had to get in there for other reasons it would be a good thing to do. My 91 had one repaired stud from the PO and another broke after I purchased my car. Corrosion was the cause...

Do not run a Porsche stud period. We have seen failures on every design improvement they have made. I know other so called "tuners" use various 993 style studs on the 930 and I can tell you I have seen them fail and sometimes within a couple of years. If you look at the cost of the stud from Porsche and the cost of ARP the difference is not that much more for the insurance of no issue. I all the motors I have build I have not had a failure with an ARP. They have been doing this for 20 years plus! Do it once and do it right.
Can it happen to you...you bet. The old studs in these cars will break, not if just when.
