adjusting valves on a 3.3 1991 turbo
#16
Thankyou for the photo that really helps a lot i can now see where i need to take the eastegate off from i presume the rear silencer is what is being referred to as the muffler
in the photo the valves at the top are easy to see are they just as easy to get to or is it very awkward adjusting them
i ave streathers book im confident i should be able toadjust the valves its just knowing what i am getting into in terms of removing stuff to the point where the valves are easily accessible
where can this gauge be purchased from and how does it work

does the dial gauge just eliminate the guess work of a feeler gauge what measurement would i adjust to with a dial gauge
i understand i need to remove the wastegate/exhaust and rear silencer and tin ware from the bottom but what do i need to remove from the top as adrain streathers books talks about moving the air con pump to the side for the carrera 3.2 but mentions nothing about removing anything else from the top

Only thing from above is to disconnect the o2 sensor, that's it.
Everything will be very obvious when you get there.
The important thing is to do the adjusting right.
Don't start adjusting until you gone through all the valves at least once before.
If more or less all of the valves are off specs you have done something wrong.
Typically 1 or 2 valves needs adjustment after 2000 km of driving, at least in my experience.

so the only thing i disconnect from the top is the 02 sensor as this attached to the exhaust the rest i remove from the bottom.
are the valves adjusted from the bottom or top and bottom and how difficult is eg the number 6 to adjust i read in the 3.2 write it has to be done blindly or use a mirror as it is very difficult to see
