If my EZ is gone can it replaced by aftermarket?
Im just still having my EZ ignition box checked out by some guru but if its shot and he cannot repair it will cost about 1500GBP to replace- fairly expensive so therefore I am thinking that im looking to go Efi fairly soonish and wonder if there are any aftermarket ignitions for my 3.6T? I guess this route you let the ECU control it all and maybe ill be better off anyway....

It unfortunately is not that simple for several reasons. The unit takes a flywheel reference signal and uses that to interpret engine speed. It is a 3 tooth setup. I am not sure whether the MSD will accept that type of trigger. Geoffrey can confirm this. The other issue is the EZ is tied into the "boost/alarm" computer as well. Some rewiring would need to take place. Also the distributor has no form of pick up in the unit and timing is adjusted from the map sensor in the EZ. You are probably better off simply replacing the unit. Although not cheap, may be easier to deal with.

Thanks, I think you are right- it might be more than a headache to deal with at the moment. But people who DO actually replace the EZ when they want their ECU to control the ignition will they use an MSD and replace the distributor etc and flywheel reference or use someting else?, i havent come accross someone doing this to their 3.6.

anyone help or direct me someone's setup of aftermarket iginition control on a 964 with Efi? I just need to know what parts i need to replace this unit if I choose to run an ECU to control the spark instead- I know the EZ uses the boost pressure as well to change the timing and flywheel sensor but i think thats it.

EZ Replacement
Stephen, I saw something that sounds interesting, but have no idea if it will work on a 965, for the reasons you mention. Ever try or know of results with this? http://www.jandssafeguard.com/
Thanks in advance.
