Default 92 Cobalt Blue

Don't know if this has been listed before. Have no knowledge of the car other than the link. I like the color though.

Correction, exterior color.

Strange thing was looking at 968's and came accross 4, 964 turbos that I do not see listed as 964 turbos anywhere.

Anthony are you sure that's not Tahoe Blue? It doesn't look the same as your car. Their website has it listed as a 92 911 Turbo but no price. Only 2000+ miles! Must be $60K or more, no?
By the way, have you ever seen or even heard of another Cobalt Turbo 3.6?

It is hard to tell but I am pretty sure Tahoe blue was not offered on the 964 turbos. I believe Tahoe is more green. Cobalt looks very different depending on the light. If the lighting is wrong it does not photograph well. With that mileage I am sure they are asking big $$. They will never sell it if they keep listing it under the 968 heading they have it under.

I do know of only one other Cobalt blue 3.6T. It has light gray interior vs black and badge delete. I am pretty sure it is the only other one. I was told that although Cobalt blue was a no cost special order paint it had to be ordered by a customer and not by a dealership. I believe this is why you see so few cars in this color.

Hmm....the car in question followed by your car followed by a confirmed Tahoe. The sun does seem to make a difference since car #1 is in the shade and #2 and #3 are in the sun.

Very Interesting,

It does appear you are correct. I happen to like Tahoe also. Didn't think it was offered on the 964 T's. I am pretty sure it was not offered on the 94's. For some reason I thought Tahoe had more green in it. It is interesting because my car can look very light to very dark and when the sun is low in the sky it turns a pink/purple color. So I have seen my car in light were it is rather close to Tahoe. For the most part it looks darker like the picture.

It is still a nice example although light Blue interior can be scarry, would need to see it in person. It should make a nice museum piece for someone. Quite the shame that a car like that was driven only a few thousand miles over the past 13 years.

Thanks Sameer,

I had a lot of people tell me the same thing at Pocono last weekend. I came in second in the Show class to a prisitine 996 C4. My car had just come off the autocross coarse and I did not have enough time to clean it thoroughly. I also ended up with the Honorary MOST BUGS award. It worked in my favor I ended up with additional points for this years Concours points standings. The C4 was only there for the Concours and road rally. It was spotless. I saw so many nice Porsche's last weekend sometimes it is hard to say which is nicest. I can't complain though.

My wife showed the GTS in Street class and after I helped her clean it she took first. She too had been autocrossing all morning.

Here is a picture of mine at the show, and my wife at the final turn of a rather fast autocrss coarse. She has learned so much and really is enjoying the sport and the car.

Wow you're right. In the above pic your car looks like a combination of midnight and cobalt. Gorgeous.
Look at your wife go! Looks like a blast.

The Red Book by Patrtnie states a few different blues for the 92-94 model years:
35V Marine Blue Metallic
37C Tahoe Blue Metallic
35U Venetian Blue Metallic
37U Cobalt Blue Metallic
37W Midnight Blue Metallic
37X Horizon Blue Metallic
388 Maritime Blue

Great book by the way!

Thanks Vinny,

Wasn't sure if Tahoe was offered. This would be the first I saw in this color. Any luck finding the RS?

A big difference between 2900 and 42K miles? The seller appears to have messed everything up. Although if you can pick it up in the 30k range it looks like a really nice car in a unique color. Would have to see the interior first.

Chris, It was really overcast and as you see the color changes in every light. I really like the metallic paints they offered in the mid 90's. Even the Amazon green changes all sorts of colors about 6 or 7 different shades ranging from almost black to a teal color.

Sameer, The GTS is a great highway cruiser, the ultimate GT. Really easy to drive and very relaxing even in traffic. Quite different than a 911, lots of torque and power great balance but it feels very heavy especially on the autocross track. I am just way too big and don't fit well with a helmet in it so I started autocrossing the turbo instead. Quite the challenge to get it right, especially with the turbo lag. It is not much but enough to shave a little time and every tenth counts. My wife is having a blast doing these events. I just wish I kept my old SC. It would have made the ultimate autocross car. Who knew.
