Default Autocrossing insanity

OK, our cars are admittedly not the best autocrossers. That said we have had our Turbo 3.6 out between the cones twice already this season. Here are some pics of my wife (Food Angel here on Rennlist) I took two Sunday's ago:

The heavenly Food Angel:

Dr.

Nice pictures! Looks like wifey has some skills. What size tires are you running in the rear?

Was Drew out there in his 84 911 sc?

Our wives were talking this Sunday. Food Angel was very excited that her times were close to yours, as she put it. I did not get to see either of you drive because we were all in the same run group. Although I noticed while recording the times you guys were both very competative. You did not stick around to get your trophys so we did not have a chance to talk.

I was curious to know how the turbo responded especially in the rain. I also see you run in the modified class. The GTS had the power but getting used to the weight was tough.

Being my first time out, I realize I have a lot to learn. I am very happy my wife enjoyed herself and learned so much herself. We are hopeing to get into the Car control clinic on the 15th. We are numbers 2&3 on the waiting list. I was thinking of taking the turbo out for this one. I am assuming the turbo must be more difficult to drive in these events but won't know until I try.

Hey don't mock the Cayenne. If mine wasn't in the shop I would have brought it. There was a young kid there for the first time with his CS and he did fairly well. These things are much more stable than you would think. It is just a shame that more aren't out there carving it up. Scarry thing was there was a ford fiesta there and he didn't do too badly. Nothing like the little Lotus though. These guys get a bit carried away with the the GPS systems tracking their movements every 5 inches and showing them if they hit each curve just right.

I believe the turbo had the fastest time of the day.

To quote Indiana Jones, "Hell, I don't know what I'm doing...I'm just making it up as I go along..."

I beat 1/2 the field in my friend's Cayenne S last year (twice). Don't mock the truck.

Anthony, we run in M as much for fun as for anything else. Although my car is stock the fact it posted high dyno run power last year leads me to run in M to avoid any controversy. Plus, I don't really care about autocross. Just for fun.

Only in NJ can a Cayenne (truck) beat 1/2 the field.

So thats her story. Actually she gets priority seating in the CT since she can't stand the pickup. They are the daily use cars. We share everything, as it should be. I have been trying to get her to drive the 3.6T but she is still not ready for that. After I restored the 914 and was hoping she would take interest in it only to find she hated it I have been trying to find a Porsche that would get her interested in these events. I was hoping the GTS and the autoX event would spark an interest in Porsches and driving, it appears it has.

I have us on the waiting list for the May 15th car control clinic. We are # 2 and 3 so I think our chances are pretty good. Mary and I are trying to get her to attend the Ladies day track event but the July 4th weekend is tough. I am sure you will see us at more events in the future now that she has gotten over her initial concerns. Although I don't think I will be using the GTS for many more events since I barely fit in it with a helmet.

You guys kill me! Hey, I just found out I will be in Parsippany NJ at the end of the month on business. Are there any autocross or track events around that time? It would be nice to meet up with the Jersey boyz!

Not one of the Jerzey Boyz, but there is an Autocross on May 22...Going to drive your rental car out on the course?

Memorial Day weekend is free of events (I'm surprised at our crack scheduling team--they left a weekend OPEN!), and the following weekend is a club race at Watkins Glen.
