Default AC Compressor Clutch

Couldn't leave it alone so I took apart my AC compressor to clean/refresh it.
It looks like the clutch friction material is very worn, but the AC was working fine before it was disassembled.
Is it possible to replace this part? I can't seem to find just the clutch anywhere. Do I put it back together like this?
I would rather not spend $1500 on a whole new compressor (especially when the actual compressor unit is just a $200 Denso unit)

I guess I'm not following you - where does the $1500 come from? It's just a Denso unit from the factory. I bought a whole new compressor for about $200 a few years ago. Why not just do that?

It's the pulley assembly that seems to be unique to the 964 Turbo.
I can buy the compressor part super cheap, but the damaged friction surface is on the pulley.

The complete compressor from Porsche is $1600 https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/o...or-93012602104
From Griffiths it's only $1400 https://griffiths.com/product/964-96...-clutch-turbo/

Is there another source? I searched all the part numbers on the compressor housing and couldn't find anything.

Looks like cork, doesn't it.
The core contact surface is the metal. Yours is a bit worn but I bet you if it worked before you took it apart the clutch might just work fine
for the load its turning. So long as you have an air gap between the pulley clutch surface and the outer hub plate, of say a min of .015" and not more than .035 or so
it probably will not slip; there may be shims (small flat washers) that sit on the comp shaft, between the outer hub. Toss it together and measure it, and if all is good
let ur rip! Worse case you'll need to replace the pulley and outer clutch hub.

I bought a complete Denso compressor unit - included the pulley - was plug n play identical to the original one. Something like $200 (2-3 years ago ish) - probably a little more. I still run R12 if that matters.

Sounds good, I'll give it a try.
If it works, that's pretty solid of you not to try and sell me a compressor I might not need!

Fascinating -- do you happen to know where you got it/what the part number is?

I was researching theses a/c clutches. I never bought one. Feel free to me if this works?

I looked but couldn't find the receipt. But I usually buy parts from Autohaus AZ, FCP Euro, ECS, Porsche Beaverton (aka Sunset)... I'll keep looking tho.
