lowering
I'm planning to lower my turbo 3.3 '91.I want to do this by just buying new springs. Is this a good idea or should I spend some more money.
I only drive the turbo on public roads.
Thanks,
Christophe

What hight were the Euro 3.3's at to start. Were they the same as the US? If they were we have all been suggesting at a minimum to change over to the Bilstein HD shocks and struts with H&R springs. The factory (boge) shocks are not very good, do not last very long and limit your ability to adjust ride hight. The dampening of the HD's along with the H&R springs realy improve ride quality, stance and handling. It is not that much more money only about $700.00 US and is worth every penny. Since you are going to spend the money on alignments and labor you might as well include the shocks. In the long run you will be happy you did.

You would not be doing yourself any favors by buying only the springs, if the stuts are the originals on your car its time for them to get changed out. As Cobalt said the Bilstein HD are a very good option and they are not going to break the bank. Even if your struts were not worn out the added stress of the new lower springs would kill them in a hurry, so just upgrade now and be done with it for a nice long while. (unless you get the coil over bug).
Speaking of, does anyone have a good source for the Bilsteins here in the states? The family 3.3 is getting a new suspenison this month and need to start shopping around for a good vendor.

This is how little projects become big expenses...if you change the springs and struts, you better get the car aligned and cornerbalanced too.
Now, if your only objective is to lower the car, can't this be done through and adjustment of the spring perches? You probably still need to get the car aligned and cornerbalanced as part of the process.

The factory spring perches are only adjustable to about .5 inches either direction. This does not give you much adjustment. In most cases you have more rear adjustment then front and will leave your front end sitting high.
The entire Bilstein HD/H&R spring set up with alignment and corner balance should not cost more than $2200.00 If you do the work yourself and have someone else align it it should run about $1500.00 However it is a bit of work without a lift. For what these cars cost I found it to be worth every penny. The Bilsteins will last considerably longer and perform much better than the Boge's.

I just did this change out and the costs Cobalt references are good. The difference in stability is amazing. I only use my car on the street and other than a little harsher ride benefits are all good.

how big the performance difference between the
two? has anyone experienced with both, is it
worth the extra money with the PSS9 ?
currently I am debating between just the H R Spring
or the PSS9.
