The issue is ground clearance of the merge pipe. If it's designed based on a 930, you'll scrape it. 930's have less suspension travel than 965's.

The problem with fabspeed is that it is the worst possible quality Chinese product, made of the worst sheet metal and the thinnest for obvious reasons.

I have to agree. That looks just plain bizarre. Pretty much everyone who makes a system for the turbo has stuck to the same formula to allow bits of the system to be swapped out/changed/tuned at will; but that system looks bespoke with integral tips, no apparent facility for a standard/uprated side-silencer, no idea where you put an original or aftermarket wastegate ("hidden wastegate pipe") and some sort of crazy full-width tail pipe that runs side to side. Is it just me or do the heat exchangers also look a weird oval/conical design?

You're never going to be able to replace bits as they wear out.

Urgh. Just no.

I know this feeling as I looked at various aftermarket systems a year on into my ownership.
I ended up with my M&K system (Ben only built 5 total systems); two wastegates, a Raarlyl8 muffler, 993 Bischoff heat exchangers and a merge. I still use stock tips, although the wastegate tip is non-functional.
About 6 years ago I designed a new merge with more ground clearance.
Boost is all in at 2900 rpm vs the 4500 rpm of a stock system.

I'm thinking that the Rarlyr8 system might the be the best commercial solution currently available unless you go to a custom set-up.

@Metal Guru Paul, don't want to hijack this thread but would you please elaborate on the TWO wastegates? Also, would you please remind us what turbo and cams you are running? I'm very intrigued by boost all in @ 2,900 rpm and am pretty sure I'm not the only one

Thanks much!

I have the Rarlyl8 system, header , Muffler

My car is slammed

I have no clearance issues (within reason)

My stock rear motor mount failed allowing the engine to drop several inches and I got s small scratch on my header but It is hard to see (replaced motor mounts with solid)

@Metal Guru tell us about your flywheel sensor holder upgrade for ignition advance , seat of pants improvement etc

@ianbsears upgrade your K27 to a raptor wheel and drop the onset of boost

Bought it from FVD. So when you use cams with overlap (I'm using SC cams) there is some reversion during the period that intake and exhaust valves are open. This dilutes the charge a little, so by advancing the timing, you can start the combustion a little earlier and get a little more torque. I made so many changes at once that I can't comment on how much difference that holder made. The theory is sound so I went ahead and added it.

Well, I couldn't package one big wastegate with the heat exchangers I'm using. Also, a wastegate for each bank should, in theory, allow better venting with less propensity for boost creep.
I'm using a KKK K27 hot stage/K29 compressor hybrid turbo, running a .8 bar, which is plenty of boost for the set-up. I also have SC cams, advanced for more low end torque and a lightweight flywheel.
Boost onset is 2100 rpm, all in at 2900 rpm.

what are you guys using for Tailpipes with the Rarly8 muffler and wastegate cat delete?

my car doesn’t have stock tailpipes so I’m free to get something that will work

in speaking with Brian at Rarly he said he’s having trouble getting the donut gasket / balljoint which mates to stock tailpipes but if I’m not using stock tailpipes then I’m in the clear.

I was fortunate enough to find stock tips. The tip for the muffler has been shortened considerably to get the correct extension past the bumper. The wastegate tip is a dummy pipe; it's mounted purely for symmetry.

I have a stock exhaust for sale. The waste gate cat is a delete, a straight pipe with factory tips. $2000 plus shipping The new CAT would be $2500 + shipping

The performance muffler system that I designed for the 964 Turbo years ago uses the OE tailpipes as that is what most were requesting at the time. The waste gate cat bypass pipe was designed for use with the stock J-pipe in conjunction with the OE tailpipe. The tuned headers are 930. The 964T has a 930 engine so that isn't a problem, there is some adapting for the heat system and waste gate pipe same as with a 930. The adapter parts were not developed as we have a 930 for R&D but no 964T. A local fellow lent me his beautiful burnt orange 964T to do fitment tests years ago but that car is unfortunately long gone.
