Question Wheel choice help please

Hi All,

Well, I think I've finally decided on Kinesis Supercups or RH Cuprads for the Turbo. Anyone have any experience with either? Any reason I should pay up for the Kinesis wheels?

Also, either way, I'm trying to figure out what fitments to order. Surprise, surprise I want to get as much rubber on the road as possible. Any thoughts here? Oh yeah, 18" wheels of course.

TIA, John

Only 3-piece Speedlines will do for me!

You can get 3 peice speedline replicas for like 3.5k, and 1 peice replica for about 1500 dollars.

If I had the money ....

Dear John,
Why not a set of RUF 18 inch wheels. They will cost around 3090 Euros plus tax and shipping from RUF according to the price list I have. Made by Speedline.
Or contact Weissach, RUF agents in Canada.
Ciao,
Adrian

I vote for the Ruf's as well. I had them on both my 993TT and my 996TT and simply loved them. They are along the factory lines, yet soemthing different.

Hmm. I had a thought about some Rufs. I may have to take another look at them. They did seem a bit "flat" to me.

Adrian,

How are you doing lately? Working hard on your 911SC book?

Do you have more information/pictures on the 962CR in your avatar?

This is the Porsche that I would like to make a replica of when I have the mean, or the real thing but they only make like 4 or 5 of these cars.

Are there any of them in the USA? I have never seen one in person. The first time I saw the car was watching Victory by Design: Porsche. I bought the DVD just for to see this car more.

Regards,

Sonny

How about Techart Formula GT? Have anyone has experience with it?
I have not seen any car with this wheel on but I really like it from the picture and was considering get a set of it for track use.

Dear Sonny,
Yep always working hard. The 911SC book final editing starts on 12 April.
Do I have more information on that 962? Yep bucket loads of it. Do you recognise the guy sitting in it? That is Vern Schuppan. That photo was taken in 1994. That is the prototype Schuppan-Porsche 962CR.
Vern has written the foreword for the 911SC book and I am writing a couple of articles for magazines on Vern. Yes he is a good friend and he has supplied all the material on himself his brilliant career and the 962 of course. Where are the 4 962CRs? I cannot say.
Ciao,
Adrian

Thanks Adrian,

I wish you the best and even more successful than your 964 Book.

Thanks for the info on the 962CR. I would love to see more pictures of this car, or any other 962CR.

Regards,

Sonny

Default I don't like the RH

Everytime I look at the 3 piece wheels , there is a new dent in the outer rim. Although it doesn't impact the sealing of the tire, the outer metal is very soft. With a leather hammer I can pound them almost back to straight, but for the life of me I can't figure out how they got bent.

The Kinesis are good wheels, but they are also cast - not the lightest weight choice or strongest, but they must be better than RH.

Other choices are better: Gemballa makes a nice wheel that is similar to the 3.6 Speedlines. Of course the Kinesis forged and Rufs are a good choice too. I am also very big on CCW. Light weight, very strong, and priced right. I run them on my M Coupe and they are terrific. They are made in any size, any width and any offset. For that reason and others they are popular among the racing crowd.

Aren't the Gemballa and Ruf wheels made by Speedline?

The problem with Ruf wheels is that they are very heavy.. Like almost 30lbs a piece... I personally love the way they look, but would hate to sacrifice performance for aesthetics only!
