Default Burning Smell

I finally had some nice weather to drive the car this weekend.

I noticed under hard acceleration up to or near red line I am getting this smell. It smells something like burning rubber.

I am not sure but is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? It only appears to happen under full boost. It disappears once I let off the gas for a short period. I don't feel as though my tires are slipping but is it possible this is the smell of burning S02's. The car has enough power to break the tires loose in second or third gear if I floor it at mid rpms. Is it possible the LSD is preventing wheel spin but allowing slippage of individual tires under hard acceleration or do you think it may be something more serious?

Any input,

Thanks

I would think it's the clutch.

Sameer,

I was afraid you were going to say that.

Is this common with these cars due to the higher torque and Hp? If not is adjustment needed or is 32k ask too much from a factory clutch?

I was told these clutches give very little warning before they go and there is no way of knowing until their gone, is this true?

Anthony,
You would usually get the burnt rubber smell froma brand new clutch, less obvious on one that is run in already. If you dont drop your clutch I dont think 32k is much at all. They are suppose to last much longer.

Sameer,

I don't drop the clutch although, I do push the car to it's limits. Car drives great and the clutch feels fine. I will keep this in mind and hope it's nothing major.

Thanks

A slipping clutch would generate enough heat to produce the smell. It doesn't mean you clutch is gone. It may be as simple as an adjustment
