Dear Les,
There is one for sale in Germany that I know of (the one in my book actually) and there were two for sale in Malaysia but I have not heard anything about them in a year or so. They were on the market for $US125,000 each. One had 25 miles the other 45 miles.
Ciao,
Adrian

Adrian
Is the one in Germany a US car or would I need to federalize it? And if it's a US car how do I contact the person?

Dear Les,
There is no such thing as a US version of the Turbo S. I do not believe you can federalise a Turbo S and have it remain a Turbo S if you know what I mean. I would see if you can bring it in under that new DOT historical car rule you have. I am not sure it is eligible, you will have to check.
By the way, the Turbo S uses a lot of rare 968 Turbo parts which may prove difficult to come by in later days. None of this stuff is in the parts catalogue either.

Adrian, I apologize for my confusion but page 34 of your book talks about one of 20 cars imported and modified by Andial. You describe it as a turbo S 2. So the turbo S2 is not considered a turbo S ? I see the ROW turbo S on the next page. I thought they were both considered a turbo S?

Dear Les,
The Turbo S2 was a standard Turbo with an Andial upgraded engine. The kit details are in my book.
The Turbo S was a highly modified Turbo using a large number of Carrera RS and 968 Turbo parts.
The Turbo S2 is no way close to being a Turbo S. The Turbo S2 is a homologation model only.

Adrian,

Enjoy your posts.

What 968 parts did "92 S use?

I thought in 92 the "S" was just a motor packge on a standard car.

Then there was the 1992 "S light weight" with the Recaro built shells & rear side vents and took a lot of from the 964 RS's.

The 94 3.6 S I belive used the 968 headlights. Is that what you are refereing to by using a lot of 968 parts.

Just wondering.

Oh, I have the factory RSR front brake ducts, a stearing wheel bipass should you want to build your own light weight. Also alread has the RS light flywheel to.

Figure $31.5 w the seats, $30k w the stock seats.

A great car at a give away price. (house remod)

Sorry for all the posts.

Keith, any pictures of the RSR front brake ducts, specifically how it routes through the car to the brakes? My mechanic did not think the kit was effective on a street car because the hoses would be kinked, etc (not enough room in the street car to route the hoses).

Dear Keith,
What you speak about is a myth.
The 355HP engine kit did not change the designation of the Turbo. If you had the engine kit installed then you had a 355HP Turbo.
I think this may have come about because the engine was redesignated not the car. The 355HP engine was the M30/69S but the Turbo remained a Turbo. The Turbo S had the M30/69SL engine.
Only 81 left the factory with Turbo S on the engine lid.
Summary:
There is only one Turbo S.
There is no such thing as a Turbo S and then a Turbo S lightweight.

Adrian - Can you expand on 968 Turbo S parts used in the 964 Turbo S.

Apart from the sharing of
Polished 18" speedlines.
RS style 3 spoke non air bag steering wheel

I am not sure what else would have been shared.
Trusting that i have this understood so far but 968 parts ref did confuse me somewhat.

Turbo S ( 3.3 produced in 92 ) only 80 ish built. Would these all have been standard headlight/fenders.

Turbo 3.6S built 93/94 was available as the slant nose ( 968 style headlamps or standard headlight version?)

I have excluded Hong Kong from this as we know form earlier post that they may have had some stranger options.

Les, are you looking for the slant nose or the one with the regular fenders (ala 3.6 turbo)?

Dear 69OCU,
I would have to get the Turbo S manual back (I returned it to PAG) but a lot of the suspension components were from the 968 Turbo, thrust bearing I remember and quite a bit of other stuff mixed up with RS stuff. Very customised was the Turbo S. Think 968 M030 suspension melded with Carrera RS suspension, wheel carriers, axles and welded reinforced parts and then you have the general idea.
Nothing you can see on the outside by the way.
Ciao,
Adrian
