I wonder about how the classical people find any joy in what they do, having to play things note-for-note. That would absolutely drive me nuts. Don't get me wrong; when I sit down to learn a song, I do learn it note-for-note as a way to play improvisational things. The classical people seem to get their asses kicked for improvisation though.
My brother-in-law's significant other is a classical pianist. She has <zero> knowledge of contemporary music in spite of the fact that she was the long-time girlfriend of Don Was. WTF?
