Default Need help with Seat Heating wiring

Dear friends,

Santa has been good to me too - my new, hugely-anticipated OEM 993 turbo S (plastic-backed/painted) sports heated seats have finally arrived, and I have already installed them in my car (pics to follow). My 'old' sport seats weren't heated - so could somebody shed some light in plain english as to what is required to connect the seat heating and make it work - an easy-to-understand wiring diagram perhaps?

I have already done multiple searches on rennlist forums but, no luck.

Thanks in advance and best regards

Emilios

P.S. The driving position is now a total revelation - huge improvement - plus it is a lot easier to get into/out of the car, much more comfortable - and they do look absolutely fabulous!

Looking forward to the pictures!
You also have to tell us what you need heated seats for :-)

Hello Staffan,

here are the pictures as promised earlier - the pics are a bit dark though as it is already late afternoon over here.

Although it is usually sunny and warm over here, it does get quite cold in wintertime - and seat heating would be a welcome 'luxury' rather than an absolute necessity - but since they are heated -might as well connect them and use them!

All the best

Emilios

Emilios,

Did you have these seats before?

Or perhaps these?

I have the 'sports' seats in the top photo and find them both comfortable in normal driving conditions and very supportive in hard cornering done in a recent D/E.

I've never thought of replacing them. What do your new seats have that the old ones didn't?

Hello John,

and Merry Christmas. I had the sport seats (option Code 383 & 387) in the top photo, like yourself. Although much more supportive than the 'standard fitment' comfort seats (in the yellow car), I found it quite hard to get into/out of the car - especially compared to my new ones - probably due to the very pronounced side bolsters. I find the new ones are much easier to get into/out of, much more supportive - especially in the higher back area.
I became totally obsessed with these seats since I took a 993 turbo S for a testdrive a few months ago. Actually, the only thing I preferred driving the 993 Turbo S to my car was the sport seats!

After installation I went for a very spirited drive, and found them much more comfortable, more supportive - even more confidence-inspiring - if you like. It's all very subjective, of course. I have heard drivers or seen comments (from 993 drivers who have these sport seats) and they were very varied and diverse.

I, though, am very happy with them - probably the best single upgrade I made to my car so far. In my opinion, they look absolutely awesome with those body-colour painted seat backs and their seatback contours.

Feel free to contact me if you require any extra info.

Best regards

Emilios

Emilios, Nice seats!
Good you are happy with them.

Well I guess heated seats in Cyprus is like AC over here, you kind of survives without it :-)

I am thinking about ditching the AC for weight and power reasons, it's a irreversable decission, but if I don't find a gutted 964 turbo soon I am going in that direction.

Why is taking out the AC irreversible? Just because you head down a slippery slope or is there a technical reason?

DrJupeman,

I believe Staffan is actually referring to his decision to remove the AC being irreversible rather than the actual AC removal procedure..

Probably not that hard to put it back in, not sure though.
But I just know that removing the AC would trigger all sort of other activities, slippery slope as you put it.

This is something I think to much of at the moment, not sure I am ready for taking the plunge (yet).

Just discovered (actually found out how the seat-heating buttons work!) that the seat-heaters on my 993 sport seats work without any mod to the cars' factory seat wiring/cable harness, which essentially I assume that the cars' seat wiring/cable harness is pre-wired to accept any seat options/extras right from the factory.

Thought I should share this with you.

Best regards

Emilios
