Your site looks identical to Mark Smiths flachbau and turbo S sites. Any relations?

I am surprised the owner of the midnight blue turbo S is selling. He visits us here occasionally.

I have been looking at some of the others not listed on your site and I have a lot of questions about originality of some of these cars. I will be down there this weekend hopefully will be able to see them up close.

Hah ... who is the man behind the mask? One and the same?

There are always poor or poorly prepared cars at auction. But also some great ones. Look forward to your thoughts on the action.

Unfortunately not as much time as I'd like to post on RL. Best way to get all the updates from me is by joining the email list if you are not already on it.

signed ... flachbau

Figured it was you. Good work as always. Although not many 993TT or earlier cars listed. I have a buddy with a 21k mile 993TT he is trying to sell he was a previous Flachbau owner.

Thanks Anthony ... can only cover so many cars ... simply not enough time. I am surely the only one covering Porsches from 1988 - 2016 in general. And I never see anyone post their estimates ... all the bloggers and other talkers/posers just regurgitate the auction house fodder. Because they don't know the cars and they don't know the market. Whether I'm right or wrong I put it out there.

Did anyone see the condition of these two cars? The yellow RM 3.6 sold for 290k plus premium.

What a tale of two fates... can anyone please shed light on the difference between the Gooding MB and the RM SY cars? Aside from the obvious color and mileage differences, I'm wondering if there's something bigger that created the pricing gulf...

I'm also searching for clues as to this. I am closing on a 964T 3.6 at the moment (not in auction). Does it matter that Sotheby's mis-quoted the engine specifications in the auction? I don't think those two cars have different engines:

"After a brief pause, Porsche reintroduced the 911 Turbo in 1991, with the wide-body coachwork adapted to the new 964's softer profile, penned by the talented Benjamin Dimson. The drivetrain was essentially that of the standard rear-wheel-drive Carrera 2, with a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged and twin-intercooled flat-six (M64/60) developing a healthy 408 hp at 5,750 rpm. There was ABS, assisted braking, and power steering."

*** Looks like the listing details photos show the Porsche COA stating a M64/50 engine (the original and same engine as all 964 3.6Ts) and the main copy of the listing specifies it has a 993 turbo engine (M64/60). Oops. But suppose the bidders knew what they were buying.

Why so cheap on the blue one?

I saw the Blue car and It was nice but some things seemed out of place. calipers were redone with wrong colored lettering the car had zero paint blemishes I have a feeling it was painted but couldn't find any obvious signs. Low optioned car and it went across the block after the Midnight blue 1992 turbo S car sold for 1,600,000 plus 10% buyers fee. And a yellow 993RS and 993GT2. I would assume that the 964 buyers had their fill and honestly there was a thin crowd.

I am shocked the Yellow 3.6T sold for so much I suspect some serious paint work and refinishing done to this car. The wheels were clearly refinished and for 36k miles it was too perfect.

Exactly my question. To me both cars seem like driven-but-restored samples, and should find a similar audience. Apparently the market has spoken otherwise...

I know of some others that recently sold for over $300k but were original clean cars.

I wasn't aware the speed yellow was (also?) repainted. That's very surprising then at that number.

I would need more time to look it over to prove it. But the underside was a complete redo and I suspect the rest. I have seen over 100 of these along with my own which I know is all original and things just don't add up about that car. The RSA was another that had all sorts of ??? including aftermarket wheels, upgraded brakes and reworked interior on a 1900 mile car. I could be mistaken about the exterior although everything I know about these cars just makes me ?? it.
