I just purchased my first 964 and I am in love. However, the dash clock and the interior lights to not work. Please note, the notifications on the clock gauge all function I believe, but the clock itself does not operate. Anyways, both of these items are on fuse 11. When I opened the fuse box I see there is no fuse in there, so I put the called for 7.5 amp fuse in and it shorted out. I tried this with two others and same thing happened. Is this an easy fix? I would like to get my clock and interior lights operational. Any and all help or points in the right direction would be GREATLY appreciated.
Sounds like you have a short somewhere.
I would start disconnecting parts of the circuit to try and find the short.
Do you have the wiring diagrams for the car?
Where in NY are you? There are lots of us around here!
Hi Spartan
I am located in Brooklyn and Long Island but looking for excuses to go on nice long rides now that I have a reason to :-). Regarding wiring diagram can this be found in Adrians book? Is it easy to diy for a newbie? I'm eager to try but don't want to put the car out of commission I'd rather deal with it until winter and enjoy the car now. But if it's an afternoons worth of work happy to give it a go. DM me happy to go to meetings, arrange, etc.
Where are the NY area 964's??? It's like pulling teeth trying to get a meet together. Cars and coffee drives... Hershey... No one wants to get together.
Try pulling out the interior light housing and remove the bulbs, and replace the fuse, I have seem where the interior light house or wires touch the body and shorts and blows the fuse.

And if that does not fix it, remove the clock and see if the fuse blows when You change the fuse. if not the short is in the watch.
