replacing front and rear shocks - is it like on a 993
After replacing the ignition switch and changing the oil this weekend I would like to do the the next task. I have searched and have not found any guides on how to simply change the front and rear shocks on a 964. Is it as straight forward and simple for the 964 as it is for the 993 - as described in these 993 threads?

Any help would be appreciated.
Also any recommendations on what's closest to the original units (type and place to buy) would be greatly appreciated.

964 rear shocks are pretty simple only tough part is sometimes getting the lower shock mount bolt loose. The top is kind of awkward to get at but real easy if your intake is already out. The front struts are not bad either but you will need an alignment when done. 4 bolts at the top 2 at the bottom

I used this link for mine, but it seems to have broken http://ww.964uk.com/Documents/Bilstein%20suspension.pdf
I covered some of my suspension change in my thread https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...refurb-28.html

Note of importance - depending on the shocks you buy the front shocks may or may not have the line attachment fittings on the shock lower section. This is the metal tabs that are on the lower shock that allow you to clip the brake line, ABS wire and wear sensor wire in place on the base of shock body. If it is not there then you will have to figure out a way to fasten these wires to the shock.
Also having the OEM camber adjustment tool helps as you can center camber adjustment for a short drive to get from aligned.

As john noted, make sure you have a heavy duty impact wrench available to remove the lower mounting bolt for the rear shocks. Also, be aware that there are differences between 89-90 and 91-93 model years for the rear units--they are not interchangeable.

Posted a couple threads on changing shocks when I did mine in 2013.....
Easy!
I would ad that I cut a notch in the tab holding the brake fluid line to the front strut. Much easier than bleeding the brakes.
