BTB, agree. Couple more drives before winter bites (NZ) and while the car is tucked up I will do the right side (drivers side).

Any theory how these crack. Rough treatment of the pocket, overfilling with goodies?

My theory is that the screw going through the door pocket gets tightened to the point that it stresses the small amount of plastic between the hole and the top of the pocket. Add some force from leaning too hard on the top of the door pocket and a small crack develops. From there, the screw starts to interact with the crack and that causes the plastic below the screw to crack.
None of this would have happened if they would have beefed up the plastic in this area to begin with.
One of the few under-engineered components on these cars.
