964 C4 Novice track day advice
I heading out to Spa next week in my C4 and I'm looking for some advice on the following: Is a fire extinguisher a mandatory requirement and if so where to you fit one in a 964? What would be sensible tyre pressure to use with 16" D90's?

No, not mandatory. Tyre pressure needs to be lowered down so you can get some heat in the tyres. I keep front around 2,2bar rear 2,4bar. Check again after a couple laps and readjust the tyres when warm.
Drive defensive, slow down when in doubt and have fun.

Dont forget to inflate your tyres at the end of the day one the temperature inside them cools - or you could pick up punctures.
Also, an hour's instruction before you go out will be money very well spent. Make sure that the instructor is an experienced 911 driver.

I've tracked my C4 a fair amount. Here's some of what I've learned in no particular order.
Prepare the car. In particular look at the age of your brake fluid and how much life is left on your pads.
Do get driver training if offered at the track.
Drive within your capabilities. Look ahead to give you and the car time to react. If your focus shortens to just in front of the car you may be rushed in your actions.
On fast straights, tap your brakes before you need to brake. This gives you confidence you actually have brakes when you need them.
Mistakes happen when you overload your brain. You need to watch other traffic, brake, shift gears, find apexes etc If you do it all consciously you may end up with a money shift.
The C4 is a stable platform but it drives differently than a C2. It might have understeer in a corner but once the path out is clear, you can floor it.
Have the discipline to rest the car if something isn't right e.g. Longer travel on a brake pedal.
Your road tyres will scream and then start to get loose after about 15 minutes. Drive to their state and come in if things are getting very loose.
Take a cool down lap before coming in. Try to use your brakes as little as possible in that lap. Don't use the handbrake immediately after coming off the track. Stop and put the car in gear to hold it. Move it half a wheel rotation after a few minutes.
Above all have fun.

Depending on who is running the track day, tow hooks front and rear is often mandatory at Spa. Front definitely. So make sure you have at least one in your tool kit. If not, go purchase two just in case they insist you have one on each end. And practice putting them on before you go.

One other thing. If you are going to Spa for the first time, and it is your first time at a track, then get some guidance. It's a super fast track with some tricky sections where the line is absolutely critical. It's 7km long where just 10 laps can be very tiring. So just take it easy and do not get over confident.

have fun drive within your comfort zone.
is there open passing or point bys?
get lots of sleep and drink lots of water.
check your tires after each run.
