If I were racing I would consider them but for street use I would avoid magnesium. It isn't a long term solution. Especially if your roads have lots of pot holes. More for the novelty of having them. The benefits they are offering are negligible and are no lighter than my e88's or Fikse profile 10's. Which weigh 16-19 pounds in 8&10" widths 18" dia. The only pro I can think of is mag doesn't transmit vibrations like aluminum but how that plays a roll I don't know. I suspect as with the factory mag wheels they reinforced the spokes taking into consideration their ability to crack if made as thin as their aluminum counterpart. This resulted in a lighter wheel but nothing close to the 1/3rd savings if it was the identical design.
All makes sense. My thinking is - I really like the cup1 wheels. I have a pretty nice setup now with 8s and 9s and IMO the fit is pretty solid - not stanced but sporty looking and sensibly sized BUT... I bought NEW 9s from Porsche and IMO, those castings just looked lumpy and they were certainly heavy as he77. Sorry but they aren't $1000 of quality - they feel like a $150 chinese wheel, IMO. So from the standpoint of getting something that looks like a cup but is actually a higher quality and unique, these interest me.

They are/were also available in aluminum- presumably for a lower price.

Yes and their cup lite wheel is on sale currently. It's in the cup family as far as looks but their magnesium one looks a lot more OE.
