Default 90 targa does anyone else have this

I have had two 90 targas on my lift in recent weeks. One has this tab I have never seen before the other doesn't. Does anyone else have this and if so what year version etc.? Does it serve a purpose?

I am always amazed by the differences from one car to the next.

Anthony, this came up in a recent thread - IIRC the tab indicates a replacement panel? It should've been cut off after installation.

Edit - here's the thread

My '91 (09/90 build) doesn't have it, FWIW.

Aside from the potential of the replacement panel, what is the build date spread between the two?

I don't have specifics on vin numbers I do know the car I have now is an early build 90 the red car is a late build. I know the red car was a complete respray. I don't believe the owner is aware of the panel replacement. I am not going to mention it to him. The work seems to have been done correctly. Sloppy not removing that though.

The car I am looking at now is original factory paint even after 122k miles. Looks quite good even for single stage black.

Thanks always something else to learn about these cars.
