The right side is stored on the left. The left side vise versa. In case we have an incident. Two control arms and a tie rod stored in the trunk.

Today is the last day the cars will be shiny. Both cars heading to Eastern Oregon for testing in the am. Hopefully I'll get a couple minutes behind the wheel.
Yesterday felt like the end of a long journey. All that is left is to finish the headlights (Spence today), wiring in the wipers, and installing the light pod.
Then off to PDX Wraps, around the corner and up the street.
A Bastos take off for the red car. Cameron and Jeff's Desert Flyer design on the other. I think all the white will be covered up.

Fearless leader with a BIG smile ...................

Here's a shot of my UHMW install on the floor pan between the skid plates.
Plus you can see Josh's armored up shift cover.

A couple more shiny shots before tomorrow.

Test Day:
I wish you all could have been there ...................
We went to an OHV park East of Bend. They set up a 22 mile stage using the existing trails. It had a couple straight power line roads filled with yumps. Plus lots of rocks on the twisty road/trail section. We did puncture a tire on my run thru the stage. I think we're ordering some more tires this am. But if we don't, BF Goodrich will be there with their convenience store.

As for the test. Mechanically they ran flawlessly. I will need to modify the hardware on the rear mudflaps and both front bumper need a serious tune up. Both cars took a direct slam into one of those yumps. The red car I'll need to reset and Fusor the divider into place. The white car will need more Fusor and sanding the edges of the cracked paint flat so it will have a nice surface for the wrap.

Before:

After:

Best way to get thru the yumps. Hammer done 4th gear. I was riding with Carl. Fastest I saw on the GPS screen was 68.4 MPH. You just go right across the tops.

The cars get cleaned up and head off to get wrapped.
We start assembling the tools and spare parts.

Time to head to work ..................

Absolutely. The faster you go, the smoother it is.

X964! So much awesomeness.

What simple things can be done to a regular C2/C4 to set as a dirt road rally cruiser?
(not for jumps, etc. Just fast back road cruising with the car set up float through ruts and puddles)

- 16 inch tires?
- raise suspension to top of adjustment range
- swaybar adjustment, etc.
- front skid plate
- (re-install) engine tray? =;>
- paint protection (wrap, Plastidip, etc.)

Picked up Cameron's car first thing yesterday. Josh had I got her done by 8pm last night. We left Spence to finish up the light pod.

We did have them change out the reflector panel to be the yellow color.
Plus we added 964 Safari to the lip of the tail.

Kind of late notice, but we're taking them to Portland's Wilsonville Car's & Coffee this am.

I've been slacking in my duties .....................

1. Cars left in the transporter Monday night.

2. Jeff and the helper crew are leaving in two rigs this am.

3. The Rothsport employees (Carl, Josh, Spence & myself) are leaving at 4am tomorrow morning.

Heres a shot of the spares prior to loading.

Plus Jeff added a side member brace/support to both cars after the parts he had made showed up. I'll get a shot from under the car at a later and dirtier date. LOL.

Jeff gave me a very enthusiastic tour of the cars at Saturdays Cars and Coffee. The workmanship and preparation must be seen to be truly appreciated. It was also nice to hear how complimentary he was to Tuthill Porsche Rallying in the U.K. for their assistance in the project. Class act all around.
