Default Tire size suggestions for D90 wheels

I am going to take the plunge and put my D90s back on.

I wouldn't mind the tires looking a bit more aggressive than the stock sizes but I don't want the handling to be adversely affected. My D90s are 6" wide up front and 8" wide in the rear. I believe the stock sizes are 205/55/16 and 225/50/16. My car is driven on the street only. Any opinions on whether I should stick to these sizes or do something different?

I found some 17 inch wheels, and went with 225 front, and 255 rear.

When I was running D90's, I used the recommended stock sizes. How are you using the car, is there a reason that the stock sizes don't work for you?

But I too upgraded to Cup1's on both of my cars, mainly because I liked the looks better.

I'd stick with stock sizes mainly due to the 6" and 8" width. Sidewalls will bulge/balloon if you go wider.

Thanks for the advice, guys! I only use my car for weekend cruises and will likely go with the stock sizes. If I could find a good deal, I would really like some 9" wide D90s for the rear but did not see any on ebay.

I also have 8 inch D 90s in the rear. The car is lowered two inches and I installed a half inch wheel spacer. The front has a 5 mm spacer. The D90s are making a comeback.

Nice move, did the same thing earlier this year.
I'm running stock sizes in Bridgestone RE003 which are a nice meaty tyre and very grippy.

Car is lowered to RS height, 7mm front spacer and 15mm rear spacer.

Funny, for a long time, you couldn't give away D90s. I sold mine for $300 to a kid who put them on a VW.

You can run 245/45 x 16 tires on the rear; they fit fine on an 8" rim.

Here are my D90s with stock sizes of really meaty Bridgestone tires with 5mm spacers front and 15mm spacers rear.

For autocross and DE, I ran that set-up on all four corners.

on my convertible, i switched back to D90 in 7' and 9' inch width! Tire sizes are 225/50 and 245/45 (quite hard to find a tire in that size in europe.. used now the new pzero...)

Quite good ride...

Yep, did the same for autocross back in the day w/ Hoosiers, though I ran 225/50 x 16 on 7" front wheels.

Thanks to cool whip, Poli84, and P-daddy for the reassuring pictures. Stock sizes it is! Beautiful rides with flags and D90s!

My car has been lowered and I already have 15mm spacers for the rear. I'll try the fronts with no spacers but will likely end up with 5mm up front too. I am thinking Continental Extreme Contact DW for the tires.
