I checked everywhere in the car and I'm pretty sure the wheel lock key is lost ...whats the best way to have these unlocked? Is there a key I could purchase or is this a job for the dealership / locksmith? Thanks.

 

Haven't confirmed but after searching the interwebs evidently the dealership should have a master key for the lock that will work on all the variants. Call them and ask, assuming you have a dealer nearby.

 

Those are the first thing I removed from my car. I had one that had a sticky lock and just saw disaster coming my way.

 

Well it seems I'll have to learn how to open these...just picked up a lock pick set. I'll let you know how it goes

Same for me.
I was watching the dealer when he removed the two sticky in 5 minutes with hammer, screwdriver and pliers.
I am still convinced that those can only prevent the owner to change a wheel on the side of the read

 

Just get a cheap socket that you don't like that is slightly tight around the wheel lock. Hammer it on the wheel lock and then proceed to remove. This is how many wheels are stolen.

Or, you can spend the money and get a nut remover.

 

Take Ale 72 and MMM951's advice. I was in the same situation a few years ago, my local Porsche dealer was of no help. I wasted over $100 having a locksmith make a key to fit. A few days later watched a video on the internet of how easy it was to simply remove keyed wheel locks with a screwdriver or a socket wrench. A few months later the original key showed up under the passengers seat ...
Someone mentioned to me that a thief will most likely just take the entire car anyway.

Thanks to all...plan on trying to pick the locks (for the sport of it) which may actually end up not working and proceeding with the socket approach. I also agree that I'm more worried about the entire car than the wheels.

 

On my car 2 out of 4 were blocked so hard that was impossible to remove them even with their key

 

I too have removed my wheel locks. They were getting very iffy and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to remove them if I needed to change out a flat tire at the side of the road.

 

I found a busted wheel lock under the seat of my car had no idea what is was till I posted a picture of it. They don't appear to be very robust.

 

If you do have the factory locks and they are still functional, giving them a good soak and rinse in parts cleaner followed by application of light oil or grease will keep them working forever. The same set has been on my car for at least 20 years and all I do is clean and lube them every year or two.

I know they aren't really much of a deterent but they are a Porsche accesory and you never know, one day they might keep your wheels from being stolen.

These are crap, a screw driver in the key slot and a whack with a hammer and there are off, its actually quicker than using the key.

 

Try any tire shop?

 

I should have probably done this...I spent about 1.5 hours picking the locks ...anyway finally have all 4 off .





I kind of want to post a DIY on this topic, but don't know if this is allowed given the topic would be how to pick your wheel locks if you lost the key, but I doubt a thief would want to pick these and they are more likely to take the entire car or drill the locks off.
