It's a good looking low mileage car, but light interiors haven't held up all that well over the past 25 years (not and the pictures don't really show that). I'd want to see it in person and get a PPI before making any decisions.

Thanks for the post. I'm a bit surprised that over 150 views and only 1 comment. I am considering a project car but at almost $50K it seems steep. I actually like the light interior on the gray car.

Cosmetically,it looks nice. I'd ask seller for maintenance/service history, carfax or autocheck records. A reputable shop PPI along with compression and leak down tests can only tell how well it has been maintained.

Agreed. The CarFax report says it was sold in Feb 2015 from this dealer. Titled in Florida. Serviced at Brumos Porsche and now being sold again by the same dealer in Penn. I'm going to ask them about all this for sure.

I have an '89 C4 in the same color combination with 90,000 more miles. I was leery of a light colored interior but it has held up surprisingly well. The shift **** has discolored and naturally the driver's sport seat shows some wear, not excessive though. I believe the previous owner had sheepskins. I do make an effort to get in carefully (butt first, then legs).
I live near the selling dealer, would be happy to check the car out for a potential buyer. Although I probably *don't* want to see how much nicer it looks than mine ;>).

I had a light colored interior and it is a lot cooler in the car than black, so many more useable days.
The negative is that the light grey carpet that was in my car "linen" is not currently being manufactured.
Let's hope with Porsche classic they will reintroduce the light colored carpets.

I spoke with salesman this evening. Interesting conversation. The car was sold to a gentleman in Florida and the dealership asked if they could buy it back if he ever wanted to sell it. When they bought it back the odometer was not functioning properly and they are "estimating" a 500-1000 mile discrepancy. So they are selling it officially as miles "unknown". He claims this is a well know issue with early 964's. The dealership did drop the engine and do a compression test. It doesn't leak and seems to be in great shape. He did say that it's not uncommon for the cowl to rust fairly easily. Seems steep at 49K.

Some red flags there

I have an early 964 (1990) with high mileage also reflected on the speedometer and on the service book. Never heard of an "known issue" with the odometer. So I would use that as a negotiation argument.
Otherwise, looks clean.. check for the usual oil leak areas (oil return pipe, timing chain covers, valve covers) and you will have a better feel as to how many miles might be on the car. Either way, it's a 964 and will leak oil eventually.
