Its not something I would contemplate but it's your car and money so it doesn't really matter what others think.

I weighed the engine when I removed it. 268KG with some oil left in.

Also, get a lightweight alternator and lightweight starter, get a carbon fiber induction system and carbon fiber engine mount and engine bracket, get lightweight hoses, titanium fasteners and washers for the engine, make the exhaust in titanium or thin walled inconel 718, etc., etc.

Also, you might want to eliminate the power steering and get aluminum hinges for the engine lid hinges. Further, you might make all of the pulleys found in the engine compartment out of aluminum metal matrix composite.

I really like the idea of an LS motor in a 911, but I would only do it to a 911 that came water cooled from the factory (996 or newer).

Also, it seems like about half the folks that attempt an engine conversion actually ever finish it, and that of the conversions that are finished, only a small percentage are 100% sorted. The process is typically much more complicated and expensive than expected.

A GM motor in an oil cooled 911 would be devastating to the car's value, if that matters to you.

The only engine conversion I would do is a modern gt3 engine into a 964!

Literally every gram counts when going on a serious diet!

OP you can look at my build thread on how to shed 200 lbs. Thats the easy stuff.

I want another 50-100 off the car. Most of it will come from exhaust system, rear deck lid, sound deadening, lwfw, and a few more odds and ends.

Hope you have a $60k budget if you want that sort of WHP.

Where do you get the lightweight alternator and starter? Are they the ones you got from MESL a few years back?
