993 door handles
Partly cos they look good, but mainly to annoy John 'I've got original Stuttgart air in my tyres' Miles, I've just fitted a pair of 993 door handles.
Once the door panel was off, it was a 10 minute job to swap the handles over, and I used my original lock barrels so my key still works (not that I've ever used it to unlock the car).
Sorry about the crap pic btw...
Cheers

Phil, you say you used your original lock cylinders?
Are those FACTORY 993 handles then or a reproduction??
I'm curious, due to the fact that I was under the impression that one would have to use 993 lock cylinders if using the factory part and there's a fabrication business here in the U.S. that makes reproductions of the handles with the advertisement that they work with your original (older models) lock cylinders??
The 993 handles are fairly inexpensive from the factory, as a matter of fact you can buy TWO of them for the price of a new 964 handle!
So this interests me.

I'd read the posts here as well, but figured it was worth investigating.
They're original 993 handles, and the barrels are identical. In fact, the entire mechanism is identical. One screw retains the barrel and, once released, it falls out. I used a feeler gauges to push the tumblers in when refitting the barrel.
Not sure why that company implies that the barrels don't fit.
Cheers

Nice to see you lay out your tools as neatly as me, Phil!
By now, I'd have injured my knee by kneeling on the socket set and then stood on the WD40, resulting in a smack on the head on that nice new door-handle.

Probably because of the poor photo. The 993 handles are more streamlined and are body-coloured.

So there's another solution, Andy - paint your car to match the handles

My cars also black to so I'm OK! I was just thinking of other people who may want to do the mod.
