OK and how long did it take to get the door panel off?

And why do I think that I would totally screw up that element of this job!

Actually, it's easy. Unlike most cars, the panel is mainly screwed in, with only a couple of those nasty pushfit fasteners.

Cheers

Phil, did I see that this was going to be the subject of one of your 911PW articles?

Hey, you couldn't find a Cab owner guinea pig for "how to convert your cab up/down mechanism to manual" could you?

Yes, I'm sure it will find it's way into the magazine. Are you interested in swapping your handles then?

Cab roofs? Any volunteers, Rob?

Cheers

Dunno yet. I've the new suspension/sway bar to get on. A proper tonneau to sort out for my improper 911 and a heap of smaller things - including Joey B's top tip re: the smog wotsit in the exhaust (more torque please!). But I'm kinda enjoying the selective modernisation of my 964 - at this point Mr. John Miles expires in a puff of original Stuttgart air! - and so I've being trying to imagine whether I'd like body colored handles.

Oh, and I'm now a subscriber. I won't have to hunt down copies anymore and, big news this for me, 911&PW has replaced my monthly subscription to Classic&Sportscar which I've had since the first copy.

A mean-spirited 993 owner would say "why stop with the doorhandles?"

But instead I say (in a very laid back way) "Kumbaya" to all my 964 friends, especially Joey Baga D.

Ruairidh,
My 993 handles are all painted up & ready to go on. Joe's going to install them. Grab a set & have him install yours too when he does the suspension mods.

Hey Mike,
Some of us are equal opportunity garagers, at least for right now

Right back at you Big Turtle!

Too bad you missed the last autocross. The new smog wotsit in the exhaust sounded absolutely wicked.

Just what I was thinking!! Although there are some other things I want Joe's view on! Only issue is my not being on the road long enough to get my car to Joe. Hope all is well and still hope to hook up to see your track beast at some stage soon.

Bump from the dead...

Phil.

Could you explain in a little more detail how you did the swap? Mainly the lock swap.

A picture DIY would have been money.

Cheers.

RT,

it's pretty simple, a small screw or two, and that's it. I painted mine (964 handles) as I coudn't find any 993 handles in a decent price range..
