Default Could someone identify this part please?

I was given a number of parts and nuts and bolts in a box when I got my car back and all of them have been fitted except for this part. I've looked everywhere but can't find it's home. It's definitely from my car (same colour red). Any help would be greatly appreciated. The car is a 1990 964 C4.

Thanks guys for your ideas and suggestions. It looks too complex and beefy for a simple bracket. On closer inspection I see that it has the letter L stamped next to the hole at the end. Could it be that there's a left and a right one of these? The overall length is about 4".

Looks like a part that goes under the dash that secures either the radio or climate control unit.

What sort of work was done on your car? Maybe that can help narrow down the area it came from.

That's a seriously hefty part for a dashboard. Maybe involved in dash/airbag reinforcement?

Looks like a hinge to me. I searched the manual for "hinge" but also couldnt find it.

Not part of the rear spoiler riser is it? Knowing what work the car came back from might help, or at least eliminate..

I believe it might be the lower support bracket for the passenger side airbag

Thanks for your suggestion mate but it looks far too hefty for such a support. And the geometry... a bit too complex for simple bracket? Nonetheless I'll have a look under there. Cheers

The spoiler works without any problems and I've been all over the car time and again (the parts I can see). Thanks anyway

Thanks for that. I've been through the entire parts manual but could not find anything like it. It's certainly meaty enough to be a hinge 'though. Cheers

I have my reservations about the dash/airbag suggestions but I'll take a look under there anyway. Cheers

The car was resprayed but was not put back together by the painter. I had to do the job myself

Yes, the seats were out but they're back in now and working fine. Anyway, i've already looked all around there and no joy. Cheers
