Hagerty or Grundy?
I'm looking to insure my car for its approximate value. I've been using $40k.
I put less than 3500/yr on the car, but it seems I drive it too much for many classic insurers. I've gotten quotes from Hagerty and Grundy.
Problem I'm having is Hagerty's quote is 3 times Grundy's so I'm wondering what I'm getting with Hagerty that I'm not getting with Grundy. Can't tell by their websites.
Anyone with experience with these two? Or other suggestions?
Thanks,
Dan

I've had Grundy for years. Never had a claim with any of my cars, except for a windshield on the 964 recently. I had to fight a little bit with their underwriter to get the installation done where I wanted (which cost them more money), but that's typical with any insurance company. They paid the claim and my glass got done the way I wanted.

Hi Dan,
I just got Hagerty done on my end. Put "2400" Miles. The rate is different for 2501 to 3500 miles. They recommend these driven miles but it also puts you at a slightly higher rate. Also, if you are confident in your neighborhood, garage, and driving record, I would even go up to a $1,500 deductible. I did so to keep the cost down. Good luck.

Another option is American National Insurance (http://www.anpac.com/), a number of Porsche collectors here in the DFW area use them. Their rates are very competitive.

Have you looked into the mainstream insurance carriers too? I started by looking at H and G also.
Then I called State Farm and explained what I wanted, and got an awesome agreed value policy... (with rental car allowance). They just cared that it was parked in a garage overnight, etc. No mileage limits either. They took a lot of pictures of the car and then I was set. So glad I updated my policy.

I just switched to American Modern in the last couple of months. Their pricing on my car with a $200k value seemed very reasonable to me.

I also have an agreed value policy with State Farm. My agent had to push for a more "agreeable" value but I'm happy with the rate. They came out to take the photos (& verify proper storage).

Heacock classic
I use Heacock Classic with agreed value 62k (low mileage original example). Policy includes a $200 rider that lets me drive to work 2 times a month. No other restrictions except mileage. Total $800 something a year. Never had a claim so who knows but they seem to be accommodating and were recommended by a classic racer guy.
