Default 964 and Shift-i

Anyone know what calibration value they used for their shift-i shift indicator lights? I'm using 2 and it reads low. Most other values don't work.

Thanks

I guess this is something new to me. Are you saying the 964 came with a shift indicator to tell you to shift to a higher gear? I have never seen this except on a tip.

I remember doing this on my RSA ages ago. IIRC I followed the instructions in the manual and it worked as advertised. But I'm sure that was a much older version...

I had no idea you could activate this. If it was activated from the factory I would be deactivating it. The only reason for this is to shift at the most fuel efficient shift point always having you in a higher gear than I would want to be in. I usually run my car between 3400 and redline all the time unless I am puttering around town and then I still bring up to around 4k. I don't think I have used 5th gear more than 3% of the time and only becuase 4th would be at redline. If you run these engines low in the rpms you will end up with carbon buildup not unlike the 993's. My boxster had this and it would tell me to shift way too low in the rpm range and was always annoying.

I am surprised I never heard of this on the manual tranny cars before.

The only one I've seen is the Cartek Digital Gear Indicator.

It's an ecliptech shift light set. Great for the track as it keeps the indicator LEDs in your peripheral vision. set the min and max for your torque to HP band. I installed on my '91 track car.

Can you share some details on the install. I bought this from a fellow rennlisters but it didn't come with any install or set up instructions.
