Default Add headlight washer system

To all 964 lovers:

I am replacing my front bumper (not original) with a second hand bumper that has the headlight washers nozzles. Any idea if it is difficult to add the entire system to the car? Mine doesn't have the option. Has there be any thread about this in the past?

Thanks,
Arnaud

I'm sorry but why add the unnecessary extra weight?

don't know how effective the 964 system is (mine doesn't have it!) but maybe for long road trips in bad weather? who knows?!

@Madturk

This car is not for races... Only using it on road. Furthermore i don't believe that extra pipes and pumps will add that much more weight.

@dubjager

No special use of it but as this new bumper already has the nozzle in place, why not adding this option?

It's your car my friend do as you wish. I've been trying to shed weight so bad since I can't lose any myself...
Hope it'll work out nicely.

I honestly don't think it is worth the trouble, I don't even know how mine works. but have a look here for an overview op the nozzles, piping and pump

I though you activate them with the windscreen washer stalk, and that it has two positions. But after some searching it seems like there is a switch
911.613.319.01 which you can mount in the spot where european cars have the intensive washers switch

I wouldn't be surprised if the cable and connector to the extra pump för the head lights are tied up somewhere around the water bottle. Could the washer stalk be the same but without the printed symbol?

No I think not. I believe only this stalk has two positions to operate the two pumps.

If you wanted to be simple about adding this w/o too much complication, you'd want to deviate from the OEM setup....

Get a tank, the pump, the washers, plumb it, then wire in a relay to a dash switch like what was used on the G body cars. Not hard, but are you going to use it? Mine doesn't have it and i LIKE that.

Personally, i'd just have those holes filled while getting the bumper painted.

All,

Thanks for the feedbacks... I furhter checked and indeed the switch / stalk needs to be replaced wich is a big mess.

I opted for a repaint and removal of the system on the bumper.

On my '89 the headlight washers work by pushing the wiper stalk forward.
Headlight washers are useful if you DD your car in winter. I use them regularly.

I added them and a rear washer as mine was a daily driver and was always parked outside in the driveway.
