Default Fitting sports cat

Hey,

I'm going to fit a sports cat in place of my cat bypass (too loud with my Fabspeed twin outlet), I'm assuming its just a case of bolt out and bolt in?

Thanks,

Chris

Shameless plug: I have a virtually new Fabspeed sport cat for the 964 if you're interested. It has maybe 100miles on it. Looks brand new.

Sorry Simon, but I'm in the UK! Thanks though

Will fitting the sports cat bring up any fault codes etc?

yes, that design will fit assuming you have all stock mounting locations - exhaust manifold crossover pipe and rear crossover pipe or equivalent. i always go with 200-cell cats and never get a CEL on any cars. others can speak for the 100-cells.

Why do you go for the 200 Cell?

Do you think the 100 Cell will be noticeable quieter than the cat bypass?

Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated!

My 100 cell is loud, not much restriction there for sound or gases , I don't think it will be. Much different to a bypass. Where about are you in UK?

Chris,

Make sure you get a new square gasket and hardware for the inlet and it doesn't hurt to have a new donut gasket and clamp for the outlet just in case. Easy swap.

I'm near Chester in the North West.

I was thinking of replacing the Fabspeed twin outlet, but was hoping that the Sports Cat would be enough to quieten it down!

Yeah reading this, it was kinda a PITA to replace my cat. I put a bypass in, but it's the same project. Like Porschenut-Lee said, make sure you get a new gasket. Also I recommend having a buddy to help. Lining the muffler up with the cat was a lot more difficult than I thought. You'll have to loosen all your muffler straps to get some wiggle room. Good luck.

Remove the rear wheel and use a floorjack to support the cat as you get it into place.

Hello Chris,

A Sport Cat will certainly take the overall exhaust note down a notch. You can also cap the passenger-side outlet on the muffler system and run it in a single-outlet configuration to take the exhaust note down as well, but the Sport Cat would be my go-to
