Turbo 3.6 Whaletail question-911&Porsche World Magazine
In this month's issue, the black 3.6 turbo has a whaletail on it that i've never seen before. I always thought the whaletail on this car was the same "tea tray" as earlier 930 turbo's.
Was this tail (on 3.6 turbo in magazine) used on any other production Porsche's??
thanks

Mike,
I haven't seen that issue yet so I'm just guessing here. As far as I know there is only one original Turbo 3.6 tail [see below on my car]
Some owners have modified their vehicles with a Turbo S tail [a special 3.3 Turbo version that came before the Turbo 3.6]
Is that the one in the mag?

Do you mean the Turbo S in the September issue? This had a lightweight, single-piece spoiler without the rubber surround of the standard item.
Cheers

ANY PICS IAN?
I ALSO GOT ONE (ORIGINAL PORSCHE - EXCLUSIVE ITEM X93) FROM A PORSCHE DEALER IN GERMANY, COMPLETE WITH THE ENGINE COVER, BUT SOMEHOW IT DOES NOT SEEM TO FIT MY TURBO 3,6 WITHOUT MODS!

Yes, Phil, the Sept issue black 3.6 turbo Whaletail without rubber edges. Is this a special edition Porsche OEM part? What other Porsches was this tail used on? Where can they be purchased?
thanks

It is the Turbo S tail. Purchasing it from Porsche will be VERY expensive. RUF use a very similar tail on their new RCT Evo so drop Weissach in Canada an email and see how much it costs.
You can see the RUF tail in all its glory in the RUF article on my web site.

ADRIAN,
YOU ARE SPOT ON AGAIN -AS USUAL. THE PRICE I WAS QUOTED FROM PORSCHE WAS IN THE REGION OF 7000 EUROS!, HOWEVER THE ONE I GOT WAS FROM A PORSCHE DEALER IN MUNICH - USED BUT EXCELLENT CONDITION AND ALREADY FINISHED IN MY CAR'S MIDNIGHT BLUE METALLIC.

Dear Emilios,
I have never dealt with Porsche Muenchen (Munich) but I have a dear friend who tells me that they are the best Porsche people in the whole world. He has dealt with them for over 35 years and he tells me there is no one better. Sounds like you have also found this. There are more Porsches in Muenchen than in Stuttgart.
