Default Chip soldered in

Was given a chip for my DME to try after some exhaust modifications. My chip is hard soldered into the board. Anyone out there ever removed one of these? I'm not about to muck it up for a minor gain. Thanks all.

Dear Fred,
You must be looking at the wrong chip. The 964 DME EPROM is mounted into an IC socket. It is not soldered. You have to open up the whole unit and pull the circuit boards apart to access the chip.

Adrian is correct. I've never seen a 964 DME with a soldered in chip.
You're looking at the wrong board or you haven't removed the clip
which retains the chip to the socket.

Good Luck

Here's a discussion which covers the process. It's a little long but covers all the bases.
