I have an aftermarket Alpine receiver in my car. It could be the cause of the poor reception I get, but my money is on the antennae in the windshield.
Anyone else have trouble with reception? What was your solution?

I had two problems with my C2 antenna when I first got it. The little wire from the windshield was not attached to the amplifier, and in diagnosing that problem, I broke the little itsy bitsy coax cable that runs from the antenna amplifier to the radio.
I found it helpful to remove the shock (passenger side) that holds up the front hood, to allow my fat hands to reach back to connect up the windshield lead.

(You also need to look at whether the antenna amplifier is getting power when the radio is on)

As Eric stated, you need to make sure you are getting power to the antenna amplifier through the 8 pin circular din connector. Without the power hooked up, I only was able to receive 5 or 6 stations.
If you need the schematic, let me know and I will try to remember where I got the details from.
